Great win by the boys yesterday, got a bit boring last 40 mins, so after reading several threads on CG I thought I'd watch him.
Not the quickest dude in the team, seems to get the agate ok but struggles to hit a target, or back himself. Must have turned it over 5 times in the second half alone. Guys like Byrnes and Slade have gone past him in and he will struggle to get a game IMHO.

I must agree there. Other guys turned the ball over in the first quarter to give North a couple of goals (Linga im looking in your direction :D ), but Charles just does it again and again and again...

Its good tho to have the problem of who to include in the team and who to leave out. Mackie did considerably well as a replacement for Monty! :thumbsu:

How can you mention these two in thesame breathe as CG. Neither are playin his position with a guy constantly trying to spoil you. His disposal is dodgy , yes but presnets well. If he could hold his more more often he would be a much better player. Maybe he lacks strength and on this you may compare him to Slade. He and Mackie still lack size but both will be better in their latter 20's I feel.

Fair comment so I'll chuck in Lonergan and Henry

His disposal is dodgy , yes but presnets well.

So did Mesch

So would Handley

Does this mean I have to watch him for another 4 years?[/QUOTE]

Bottom line is he's an over rated battler

Re: Another Charlie Gardiner Thread

Generally presented and led alright as usual, but that won't/shouldn't be his saving grace on Thursday night.

For a guy who's role is primarily as a link man from the flanks/wings to our deeper 50, his disposal and decision-making is still miles away from the standard it needs to be at. And to think he really has little competition for that role down at the club (Lonergan, perhaps challenging).

Last week's performance deserved kudos, but one game every few months is hardly deserving of this 'humble pie' rubbish that was going around. I think that was the only thing Charlie proved this week.

I hadn't really thought of the Mench comparison but its probably reasonable but id say Mench was far better overhead than Gardiner but less mobile
Do you have to put up with, I dont know as Ive said another thread its not unusual to end at a different club but I still think they may better players in a few years time
