Funnily enough it was alledged Rudd did not attend important security meetings. Well now we find out that Jools did the same:

http://www.theaustralian.com.au/nat...ised-for-gillard/story-fn5oa9i5-1225899273242

JULIA Gillard has been accused of "scandalous" disregard for national security amid revelations she sent a former bodyguard to attend highly sensitive security meetings on her behalf.

The revelations are the latest in a string of damaging leaks to hit the Prime Minister and come as senior Labor ministers concede that animosity between her and Kevin Rudd is "killing" its election campaign and that it is not being managed as it should.
In the famour words of Bob Hawke, 'if you can't govern yourself, you can't govern the nation'.

Libs into 2.75 now with the bookies.

That 2.75 is now looking very good value.

Labor are in huge trouble now. They appear to be at the mercy of the "leaker" who shows no sign of letting up.

Meanwhile Abbott is actually performing pretty well; above my expectations anyway. He must really believe now he is the chosen one.

I think what people overlooked re Abbott is his mental strength and discipline. He has been mocked over his fitness regime but it means he is mentally strong and able to stay on track during the campaign. Gillard looks haggard and tired by comparison and is slipping up on a regular basis.

It helps when you don't have to say anything. However, he has been excellent on the campaign trail for what he needs to do - appear credible. He is showing his experience for sure.

Abbott is being handed this election on a plate & all he has to do to guarantee a comfortable victory is keep on saying the same garbage & let Labor disintegrate from within.

Terrible turn of events for Labor supporters & this display of amateurism by those in power will make sure that Abbott & his cronies remain in power for another twelve years.

Had a wry laugh at this line:

A spokesman for Ms Gillard said cabinet confidentiality meant she could not defend herself from the damaging allegations.

Its better than saying 'the defence forces don't vote Labor' I suppose.

How do you 'ask the hard questions' if you didn't even bother turning up to do your job in the first place?

Notice today that Abbott has started using the word "adult", as in

"this is not an adult government" and

"Not an adult way of governing"

You haven't been in a Liberal focus group without realising it, have you Noddy?

There's nothing new in these leaks. I think this is info that journos have been sitting on for awhile.

And the leaks aren't really that bad per se. It's the headlines used that's the problem. She didn't actually oppose parental leave or raising the pension - just questioned the funding availability for god's sake. Something everyone in that room should have been doing.

Race to the bottom, this one.

BTW, I'm not aware of Abbott being mocked for his fitness regimen. I thought it was the one thing that pretty much everyone across the spectrum admired about him. It's certainly one of the things I most respect him for (which I guess kind of tells you what I think of him).

It must be hell on his protection detail though, all those 5:30am bike rides. I bet he's the short straw - Hockey would have to be the sweetest assignment.

So you bought the whole "I was just questioning the funding" line from Gillard.

The same minister that continues to fund the rort ridden BER.
The same minister that has just approved the 'cash for clunkers' initiative, as a green initiative ?

Anyone with any experience in sitting in any sort of meetings where policy or strategy is discussed knows that topics must be examined from all angles and generally the people who argue all the issues aren't the ones who necessarily disagree with it. Good leaders do exactly what Julia described.

Would you rather no one questioned policy decisions?

The people who are jumping on this are either Libs supporters looking for any excuse to bag Gillard or people who are too lazy to think for themselves and just read/listen to sound grabs.

The really frustrating thing is that didn't some one say that parental leave would be introduced 'over his dead body'?? And which party refused in increase the pension by a notional amount for over 10 years?? Why aren't these points headlines now?

Banarnby ran the same line on ABC24 last night - hightlighted the waste of NBN - then suggested it could be ebtter spent on his pet waste project (old people in the country)

Your first argument says she was just questioning the funding, as per her soundbite.

Your now saying she questioned the policy.

I think it's more the fact that she questioned the 'historic' parental leave scheme and the ways she questioned them,
- the parental leave scheme would not be popular with stay-at-home mums or parents who have already had their babies.
- and that seniors aren't Labor voters
Then said she doesn't comment on Leaks
Then said she was just questioning the funding

that has resonated throughout the electorate. It's put her in a light as someone who just doesn't get it. 'It' being the struggles associated with family life and having kids and coming across as insincere.

Interesting that a Government was in charge for 4 terms without any sight of a PPL scheme, but the slightest hint of inaction on PPL could potentially bring down another Government after just 1 term, going against an Opposition leader who said PPL would be introduced "over his dead body".

Only in politics.

No one knows what was FULLY said except those that were there. We have one 'quote' taken completely out of context. As I said everyone in that discussion should have been questioning everything. We don't know who said what, all we know is what policy came out of it. And really that is all that matters.

Isn't it a lovely coincidence that this is about children which provides a lovely bat to hit her with, without being seen to be questioning her choice to not have children.

To be honest i expected more from Julia as the only time she was herself in my opinion was in Adelaide this past week.

The botched asylum policy plus the climate change debacle still has me shaking my head in amazement.

Was always going to be hard for her once the Murdoch juggernaut swings into play & what i will say for Abbott as much as what he says is garbage is that he picks the right words to preach to the masses & keeps to them.

I might be critical of Labor at the moment but compared to what a right wing loony will bring to this country i am still hopeful of a late intervention from up above that will show just what your Tony is really like.
