Another solid game by Howat

u might not know this but this guy is 22 or 23.
at that age he should have better vision and not just get cheap kicks out on the wing.
brenden godard, mcintosh, winderlich - these are players that would have been drafted his year and have much more impact on a game
obviously alot of people share these views and u r in the minority

He contributes to the team with his running and disposal. Just like most small size players he isn't going to kick a bag of goals and he isn't going to take big grabs or knock a player out. Harveys game for the last 5 years has been based on 10m kicks. He is a great team contributor, but you wouldn't say he is a match winner. Most teams only have about 5 players with a weapon that can hurt the opposition

Harvey is 36 going on 65 with his damaged hammys. He plays within the limits his body allows hence the 10 m kicks but he is still a damaging player if left unchecked like he was last night. Howat, on the other hand is a 23 year old who should be at just about peak footballing ability. He is not part of a group that consists of, in no order: Lids, Bling, Foley, Tuck, Edwards, Polo, King, Brown & Tivendale that can and do have impact on games either through scoreboard pressure or setting up goals or taking on the opposition. By my count that is more than 5 players we have on our list that can hurt the opposition. Howat will never be part of that group and although he maybe a servicable player at the moment if we want to climb the ladder he needs to be a player that is at best a depth type not best 22 type which he currently seems to be.

umm harvey wouldnt still be playing if he didnt, week after week, keep the saints in games.
and ofcoarse id ont expect howat to kick goals, he plays on the wings. and yes he can ran until the cows come home but at 23 i dont think he will stay on our list.

Wallace rated Gaspar too, remember had to make a choice between him and Kellaway at the end of last year and then 5 rounds in had retired Gaspars arse despite him playing every game, just because he gets a game doesn't mean he will be there next season.

No, every Tiger supporter who is sick of mediocre players getting pats on the back for poor performances should be getting on their cases and letting them know that it is no longer acceptable to be carried along by others. Time for all players at the club to carry their own weight and stop being passengers.

Howat has not played a poor game. He's shown great promise in his 15 OR SO GAMES. Yes he has only played about 15 SENIOR GAMES.

Must have missed that great promise in the following games:
7 disposals against the Swans in Round 2
8 disposals against the Pies in Round 3
5 disposals against the Dees last week

agree whole heartedly. howat is aone sided skinny ordinary out side reciever. he has no hurt factor lacks depth on his good kicking side and is soft.he has no real upside and is playing at his optimum which unfortunately is not good enough. he is a typical rfc player of the last 25 yrs. one word sums him up quite well DUD.

And Hughes has been able to hurt teams with his limited time on the ground. Perhaps the 3 goals against WCE and 3 against the Cats when we were getting belted have slipped your mind. The other difference with Hughes is he is about 1 of 6-10 KP types we have on our list, Howat is 1 of 20-25 mid sized players we have on our list.

Let me ask you this if Howat is so special why didn't the club elevate him last year? Instead they chose to keep him as a rookie and I dare say that had it not been for Cogs getting hurt he would not have even been given a chance this year.
