Its time for another weekly WAFL update, to see who is pushing to get into the team… West Perth had the bye and on watching a replay of the Eagles game.. a few of the West Perth boys were in the change rooms in black suits. I did a bit more research this week and added in a few more things.

Andrew McDougall 20 Disposals, 8 Marks, 2 Goals [BP]
*Mark Nicoski 20 Disposals, 10 Marks
* Clancy Rudeforth 14 Disposals, 5 Marks [BP]
Brent Staker 14 Disposals, 3 Marks, 1 Goal
Adam Selwood 13 Disposals, 6 Marks
Ashley Hansen 12 Disposals, 6 Marks, 4 Goals [BP]
* Zac Beeck 10 Disposals, 5 Marks
Michael Collica 9 Disposals, 2 Marks

McDougall deserves a spot, we need to get him playing him AFL, as does Adkins, i'd rather have him than Munro....
That's about if for this week, i'd like to see Collica as well, but at the moment he seems out of favour....
Chicky and Read should be back this week, whoever goes out will be unlucky.
Gaspar should go to WAFL for fitness, and McIntosh could be out again if he comes up from injury after Glass impressed.

i dont, and hope he aint. I dont think Milli will come back in nor should he, he should have to go to the WAFL and earn his spot like everyone else has to.
McIntosh is a veteran, not a young up n comer. He isn't going to get any better playing in the WAFL. He wasn't dropped because of form, he was dropped because he had knee soreness.

yes but at the same time as good as he has been for us i still think the whole team should operate under the same guidelines. One of our best assets is that it SEEMS no player is viewed higher than another and although he may not have been dropped for form neither was Collica, he didnt start cause he was injured, now hes playing WAFL to get back in the side. Milli should have to do the same IMO, i know to me he isnt a certain starter, carroll and glass are both playing well and Collica is busting a gut(except last weekend it seems) to get back in, keep em going like that having to prove why they should get back in. I know Jako went straight back but he is our CHF atm while Gaspar is out, we have Glass for FB and its a good time to start getting him used to that.

I'm not talking about whether or not McIntosh is a certain starter. He definitely is not a certain starter, and will only play if the match ups in defence suit someone for him.

The thing is, even if he does get dropped for match up reasons, I very much doubt you would see him playing in the WAFL.

so you think he just wouldnt be played full stop? The WAFL may not improve his game but it'll at least keep him more MATCH fit than not doing anything surely!?

I'd almost put my house on it, that if he got dropped for match up reasons, he wouldn't play in the WAFL. He is at the stage where a week off would do him more good.

Last week Woosha said that Jako is not a walk up start, and then he went on to say, if Jako did miss out, he probably wouldn't play in the WAFL, he would be better off with the break.

fair enough, wouldnt be my philosophy as what could milli do to prove himself then? would only get in on reputation which isnt right, reputation can mean squat when a player hasnt played for a while.

Agreed on Carroll. He is playing with a lot of confidence and looks like being Milli's short term replacement.

On Milli, I think it'd be a bit of an insult to him having him play in the WAFL. He deserves his spot in the team, matchups and injuries permitting, should always be an automatic starter.

i dont think he should anymore. He is only a starter when there is a player for him to play on and every week i wonder how many teams have players he can still play on. He can only play on a player who goes man on man, anyone who leads remotely well kills him or goes close to killing him, all they gotta do is lead double back lead and will get it 9/10 times. I firmly believe as do most that this is his last year and in that as much a great player he has been there are younger players i would prefer to see play before him, with him being used sparingly. Thats my opinion and obviously it differs from most but ya get that.

Whoever is bagging Milli obviously has a short memory of his game on football's premeir FF of 2003, David Neitz. Milli towelled him up and I expect him to do the same to "Beaver" Lloyd this week given a chance.

I think Glass is the right match-up for Lucas.

Carroll to take either Alessio or Hille when they are rested in the forward line.

if McIntosh plays Glass will get dropped.

i agree that both adkins and Dougs deserve a call up. the problem being who do you drop? with read looking to get into the team in only person that i can think of that could be dropped is Munro.

Johnson form is a worry. 4 disposals from our most matured (physically), top draft pick. is he injured?

yea he did, but I think that took a bit out of him, but he was clearly in a lacklustre state agaisnt Collingwood, and subsequently missed this game with injury.

If Lloyd doesn't play I would like to see him given some more rest time. If Lloyd plays, Milli is the only one who can match up on him in as many facets as possible.

Hows Ashley Hansen been going?
I watched the game on TV and i was really surprised to find out later he only had 4 possessions. I thought he did alright and set up a goal or two. Ashley Hanson was apparently BOG. I'd play McDougall before both of them as he is a bit older and a bit more advanced.
