most people chop and change on the significance of the Ansett Cup. It usually goes that if your side wins it was a great win and a sign of a great year ahead. If you club loses then its only the Ansett Cup and it doesn't really mean anything anyway.

Declare now whether it means anything or not. If you say it is significant then you have legitimate braging rights when your side wins (over other supporters who also think it is significant)...but must cop it sweet when they lose...and visa versa.
Me - Insignificant. Too many 2nd rate players playing, and experimentation. Unless Port make the final. I think the final is usually a full on match and teams go full bore to win.
