120 or 68% would win most footy pools - so given that home teams have dropped to just 54% of games in the last few seasons, and form is unpredictable for the first third of the season, spill the beans, What's your strategy?

I do my research mate...um 120 aint impossible. The best tippers on the AFL site are pretty damn good. 120 is 5.5 out of 8 each round which is quite achievable. You can still get that if you know what type of form a team have been in, what ground they are playing at, the weather, the team they are going to verse etc. The ansett cup however means jack all so i dont bother doing any research on teams and everything else.

P.S. If you're wondering why I do research on teams its so when I beat one of my best friends who is a hell footy guru (he knows all gf winners since 1930) i can have bragging rights over him.

As a potential minor premier in this tipping contest I can confirm the following excellent strategy for forecasting results.

1) Get a coin
2) Cover the queens head with a bit of tape as a respect to forum members (Particularly the Magpie Trotskyite)
3) write a big H on the tape.
4) for each match toss the coin in the air. If it lands with the H up then go for the home side. If it lands the other side up go for the away side.
5) If it lands on it's edge argue that it had to be play on or a goal, not a behind

StKilda - Wet Toast couldn't beat Collingwood at home so I seriously doubt they will beat StKilda away.

Geelong - Will win and win very easily, we all know about Port's record at Colonial (ie the only never to win a game there) and I can't see it changing without Tredrea. Geelong have to win by 36 points to make the finals, but should win by close to 60.

Essendon - They have to win one, Sydney have had 2 tough games, Essendon are yet to try. They should give the Canberra crowd something. Lets hope I'm right so Geelong are guaranteed to make it

Kangaroos - They are pre-season specialists and Collingwood are playing to there maximum potential at the moment. They are too professional to lose to Collingwood twice in a row - remember the Orange jumpers.

Brisbane - Carlton just fell over Adelaide at home so whereas Brisbane put in a shocker against the Dogs, Brisbane would want to win at home for membership and should be too good.

Bulldogs - The only query is how they pull up after playing in the rain. Geelong were fine though, Adelaide quite simply aren't playing well enough to trouble them

Richmond - Both teams form was excellent on the weekend, Richmond simply because they don't have to travel

Melbourne - Are better than what they showed last week and should win a tough game.

Visro, whoever your friend is should be able to go back to at least 1927. I mean the Woods won four on in a row to 1930 so its not that hard to remember!
(Bloody good tipping btw)

Well GM, you and me both with a grand total of two last round! Great minds hey.

Lets see then sheer punt with no thought at all put into the selections,

Coasters, Crows, Cats, Roos, Swans, Lions, Dockers *hell if they can beat us they can beat the Tiges* and Hawks.

Maybe Visros friend knows all the WAFL winners since 1930. Ive gotta say though that knowing all the GF winners since 1930 doesnt make anyone a footy guru. I can name them all from 1897 and then all the VFA winners back to 1877. I dont think thats anything special though-DRAVID IS OUT-most of my friends can do it too.
