Three reasons for a graft tear

- Misplacement by surgeon
- Untreated secondary issues in the posterior ligaments
- Too early return to high level activities

In other words Freo doctors havnt done a good job here

I was hoping so much that he would come back and have a big year. How does the bloke pick himself up again and then get the confidence to play? You'd think he will need a miracle to get back this time but let's hope he can.

Or could it be just plain bad luck???

Why bring up all the rubbish negatives trying to paint a bad picture and in effect the Fremantle football club and cause arguing and thread derailing. Leave your trolling out of it.

Thats the thing. It cant be bad luck. Just bringing it up because its pretty much unheard of to tear the graft of the knee.

So the Eagles doctors are too blame for Brad Smith re-injuring his knee and needing a 2nd reconstruction

Poor bloke, but I notice its just been 6 months six his op right?

Usually they say at the 3 month mark, the graft is at its weakest and back to full strength at the 6 month mark, but it also depends on the scar tissue attaching to the graft, thats what I was told anyway. Surgeons would prefer you don't get into jumping etc straight away and take the slower approach.

I doubt its misplacement by a surgeon, or a PCL issue (they check it when there in there), I'd say its point #3.

Looking at the clip, he looks primed and ready to play round 1, I think clubs are pushing too hard to fast. At 6 months, I just began to jog on a treadmill... :S

Feel sorry for the dude, doing an ACL really hurts (for about 5 minutes anyway, then it feels normal), let alone 3 times. If theres any good news, he'll get looked after, the best docs and medicos around, I wonder if he'll be able to try LARS this time round...?

Either way, he should just get the op, write off this year totally, just do the rehab, let the thing heal for 12 months, maybe take a holiday to refresh, come back and start from there. I just think he's pushing it too quickly, but who knows, its all speculative.

"Just bringing it up"? There is never anything innocent about your posts.

Which is also why there is no reason to listen to you.

So a career is on the balance but people shouldnt ask questions as to why?

That is a much more heartless approach to it then anything I have said. Morabito deserves answers for sure

terrible news

really liked him as a player and looked forward to seeing his comeback, fingers crossed for the best recovery possible

Pretty much. Clubs rush the players back too early too soon. As much as we all like to say its a 9 month injury it isnt. The sooner clubs realise this the fewer re occurences we will get

LeCras didnt start running till 7 months after surgery and only started taking part in full training last week (around 12 months after). Even that is too soon

People involved in his treatment, his family and the club hierarchy will no doubt be asking questions.

Half wits on a footy forum making bold, unequivocal statements based on **** all are looking to stir the pot and should shut their trap, especially you Embers

How many knee reconstructions have you had? Bet you I have had more. Its not stirring the pot at all. Its just doing the first sentence based on what I know. Anyone whose had a knee reco knows the doctor talks about the graft all the time and continously goes on about how you can damage it through your own actions/overdoing it.

All im doing is asking questions and pondering when its needed. If you dont like questions being asked your probably in the wrong place

I agree wth what you are saying , Reconstructions are a serious injury but Lecras was pushing himself at training to take part in playing in the finals in 2012 , was doing all the training in an effort to play 5-6 months after the Reconstruction .

FWIW AFL has many injuries and is very tough on the players .

seriously Freo must have Dr Nick doing our ops.

If you tear it in the first 3 months its surgery mishap. As the other poster said by 6 months if you tear your graft its because you have overdone it physically or your knee is completely messed up beyond repair (which I doubt is the case because the doctors would know if he had secondary problems).

LeCras looks to finals
LeCras has gritted his teeth through a frustrating four months in rehabilitation since tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in a pre-season training session.
He has reached the point where he can run again, change direction on his injured knee and kick with both feet, but acknowledged any small setback could still delay his return date.

You're not asking questions, you're making statements about Doctors failing.

In short your past reputation as a massive dickhead leads me to conclude you're still one.

Whether you've had a recon is neither here nor there.
