Society/Culture Anthony Mundine Makes Racist Comment About Jeff Horn

That's not what he said at all.

He made similar comments about Brad Fittler many years ago. He said that because Fittler and Horn are white they only need to be good boxers or good footy players and (1) the media will fawn over them and (2) that is enough to open doors for them.

Yes, those are racist comments. Anytime you say that someone is only where they are or what they are because of the colour of their skin, it's prejudice against someone based on their race.

Fair bit of gymnastics was done to bend what he said into something it wasn't.
He himself explained what he said.
Just like what he said about Tasmanian indigenous folk was twisted into some other bs.
He was very specifically having a go at one person for their colour with a very broad take on society.

What specific privileges has Horn had over Mundine in the boxing/sporting sphere? To me Mundine sporting wise would've found it much easier due to his NRL profile over 'white boy' Horn who was a teacher out in the 'burbs'.

I know why Mundine says this stuff, and to be quite frank its to push his brand and make more money for himself.

In comparison he feels that him (& other black people) not only have to be good boxers or footy players they have to be extraordinarily good in order to be afforded the same opportunities, just because of their skin colour.
He also called out Arthur Beatson (an indigenous league legend) as an "Uncle Tom" for supposedly enabling what he claimed was racism in the selection of rep teams.
He said that Horn is only the flavour of the month due to his skin colour. He didn't say that his skin colour helped... he said it was the ONLY reason he was so popular, implying that if Horn was black (or another race) he would not be in the same position he's in. He's using Horn's skin colour to discredit the scale of his achievement. He's basically implying that Horn is undeserving of his spot as a media darling but gets pushed up anyway because of his skin colour ("...and because Horn is white, he gets all that attention and media coverage.”). Again, flip the tables: if a white person said this about an Indigenous person there would be no dispute.

Racism, prejudice... call it what you want. Mundine is a race-baiting tool.

This is how he explained what he said...

“You’ve just got to look at society - whites get privileges. I don’t care if you’re white, black, brown, whatever, it’s your heart that makes you.

“But in the western society, whites get privileges, and because Horn is white, he gets all that attention and media coverage.”

Which contains a massive non sequitur.

“But in the western society, whites get privileges, and because Horn is white, he gets all that attention and media coverage.”

You can tell Mundine is brain damaged from the above, but why are you citing it?

Can't understand while people feel the need to defend Mundine's words

He has earned $40 million + from his boxing career, and he is bleating about white man's privilege LoL

He has been all over the shop for a few years now, making racist comments to play the victim card

It's all about keeping himself at the center of attention so the mug punters pay 50 bucks for his pay to watch fights against nobodies

He is simply taunting Horn in the hope of him getting a big payday, trouble is Horn has passed him and has bigger fish to fry

So if the situation was swapped and Horn said this about Mundine we would again be having organisations like Socialist Alliance, ANTIFA, the Australia Greens etc etc etc calling for his head but because Mundine is an Indigenous person and says this about Horn it is OK according to these organisations and they just stay quiet.

This is nothing other than plain racism. No debates.

The irony of Mundine's comments is he made them while stating he believes Australia Day should be moved from 26th January due to its racist associations while being an absolute racist himself.

The guy's a flog and this has taken it to another level. However as usual we will get told by the PC brigade that abusing him for being racist is not OK and we are just bigots, ignorant, abusive etc etc etc.
is there more to it? Cant see the racist part

I'm not much of a privilege kinda guy, however, I think it's applicable to indigenous Australians.

I doubt it applies to all of them. You'd have to apply the same privilege or lack thereof to indigenous people living in the bush that you would to AFL stars.

Even in the AFL they're still subjected to unnecessary racial abuse.

The point is that being indigenous is a disadvantage in itself, even if over-represented in the AFL.

There's a reason why the indigenous members of this board avoid these types of threads. They have to listen to the demonisation of their race on a constant basis.

Incidents which are rare, and occur amongst other races.

It often ends up being so, for related reasons, but I think that's different from saying it always is.

If there's demonisation of race, then the mods would be onto it.

Anthony Mundine's comments are false, pathetic and full of self-pity but not racist. Yes, if Horn had made the same sentiments at Mundine it would be called racist by a lot of people. They would be wrong.

Literally no one but you cares about what Mundine says. He's a washed up idiot who couldn't win against average opponents.

But good on you for maintaining the faux rage, one day you'll actually find something meaningful to complain about, rather than trying to bait people into an argument.
So why are YOU posting in a thread about Anthony Mundine.

You must care about him I assume.
Ambiguity, know what that means......

Or are just baiting and trolling as usual??????

If anything he’s saying he’s the victim of racism in that Horn gets special treatment because he’s white... blacks are further suppressed, that’s his contention

It took till page four before someone actually posted that.

So by your argument and logic then it would be acceptable for me to call Mundine a "black campaigner" then?
Just call Mundine a campaigner who exploits the race card. Then you aren't making a racist comment but one of fact.

I didn't read Mundine statement as racist toward horn but more a whinge about why the public and media never loved him, and saying we didn't love him was because he is black. The reason we don't like you Mundine is that your public statements are often full of dumb floggery
