How will he go this year ?
I'd expect he is part of pre seaon traing & wil line upfor the bullies.

How do he rate in comparison to Bower, Edwards & Kennedy ?

I, like yourself, would be very interested to hear anything about Raso. The club have certainly done a fantastic job in keeping him under wraps. At 6'3 in the old money (if he hasn't grown in the last year) I would imagine he would probably play as your 3rd tall defender. With the drafting of Bower & Edwards, plus the trading for Saddington, and already having Raso up our sleeve, I have a feeling the writing might be on the wall for Livo.

IMO, another development year for Anthony. Will really need to fill out that 6'3 frame of his. We seem to be assembling a pretty handy bunch of talls at Carlton if you include Hartlett, Kennedy, Bower, O'Hailpin and Edwards.

Didn't Raso come to the club as a forward?

Yes he did, but like Silvagni and Dean before him, he may be called upon to play down back given our weakness there. But at the same time with the drafting of Bower and Edwards, the trading for Saddington and the hoped development of Hartlett, this may not be necessary. We will probably not know the answer to this for another year or two.

Saddington isn't a key defender anyway.

So Saddington never played at CHB for the Swans? Methinks he did.
He did a little bit after the retirement of Dunkley. He just never had the bulk to play it well, and would often try to mark instead of spoiling. It never worked, he lost confidence big time.

I think you have a player if you use him properly - Could be a more than handy HBFer, or wingman, but I'm a big advocate of him as a forward - Though, you don't need him there.

He has generally good skills, can take a mark, and is an intelligent player. Needs confidence though.

He played predominantly at CHB for Haileybury this season. Until his body fills out, I think he'll be a HBF/HFF type.

Jake Edwards sounds like a similar type to Raso to me.

Do you have that on record

IIRC he said top 30 chance when we drafted him, yet somehow this became top 20 and then top 10
remember it like yesterday. definitely said raso would go top 10. propaganda turned sour.

Hopefully he will be able to cement a spot as a CHF or CHB with the Bullants and maybe start pressuring for a spot at Carlton towards the end of the year.

Anyone realise alot of the time for hailerbury this year he played as a half bakc flanker running off ... didnt even hold down CHB at school boy level - there is very little chance of him pushing for CHB next yr at AFL level next year.

Best hopes next year for him would be too gradually add some bulk to his core body whilst playing some good footy from the hbf in the bullants.

People generally aren't very realistic in their expectations, but their hearts are in the right place.

Won't matter how many times we say Kennedy is a natural Centre Half Forward, people will still want to believe he'll walk into senior football at CHB, for example.

I tend to think Raso as more a half forward type, ala Matt Clape.
Would love to see him rotate between half forward & midfield with Waite as we move forward.
is he any good though surrey?

Over half of our side is over 190cm so yeah we now have a lot of talls and with this draft we have a lot over 193 which is what we needed as we had to many around 190-193:D

Can't judge Raso yet. The kid is skinny and hasn't hit the gym for very long. He is a development player. Is likely to play at times in key positions but who knows at this very early stage where he will play. He may surprise everyone and end up being a full-back. Give him a full year before asking too many questions.
