The hottest football tickets in Brisbane each year are, in order:
1. State of Origin
2. Wallabies
3. Finals - NRL/AFL
4. Blockbuster H&A games - NRL/AFL

I would put it this way.

1. State of Origin
2. NRL finals
3. Wallabies
4. NRL blockbusters H/A
5. AFL finals
6. AFL H&A blockbusters
7. Union non-wallaby blockbusters

7. All other RU games

Gee, No.7 is a bit generous, what about their club rugby?

Qld Cup RL would easy beat that for crowds, I would think!

Based on ticket sales to date this year:

1. AFL H&A blockbusters
2. RL State of Origin
3. AFL H&A matches
4. Wallabies
5. NRL Blockbusters
6. NRL H&A matches

Let's not forget:

All reserved seats for the Lions-Saints clash sold out in 22 minutes when they were released last week.

Explain how you worked that one out.. On both average & aggregate crowds you're totally wrong.

Based on crowds + ratings I would guess:
1. State of Origin
2. NRL Broncos Finals
3. NRL Broncos Blockbusters
3. NRL Broncos
4. AFL Lions Finals
5. ARU Wallabies
5. AFL Lions Blockbusters
6. AFL Lions
7. QRU Reds

For a start, I was talking about ticket sales to date this year. Last time I checked the finals for both the AFL and NRL hadn't begun. Secondly what has TV ratings got to do with what is the hottest ticket in town? Thirdly how many times this year have the Broncos attracted bigger crowds than the Lions?

Not sure, but the Broncos have 50000 and 38000 to their name, and RL also has a 52500 State of Origin crowd to its name.

The other equal largest footballing crowd of the year goes to the 52500 Wallabies match, and RU also has a 42000 crowd to its name by way of the Qld Reds v NSW Waratahs match.

The next level of footballing attendance is the Lions with a bunch of low/mid 30000's.

Re: Hottest Football Tickets in QLD this Weekend

From what you can believe from those AFL pussies, sorry Lions (pfffft), they have 30 - 35,000 members, so I think it is actually quite poor that it took all of 22 minutes to sell about 2000 tickets.

Come back to this board when they actually deserve some praise, not when it is overhyped crap.

Are you not aware of the current capacity of the Gabba? 30-35k is pretty much full-house for Brisbane.

Leaguies..

Be double standards surely to raise that argument when AFL types dismiss it out of hand when Sydney grounds are 20000 sellouts for NRL games with thousands turned away at the gates.

Its great seeing the packed small NRL grounds, but it is shocking seeing Aussie and Telstra with hardly anyone in it.

Yeah.

Would you say that a 30000 crowd at Telstra Stadium looks much worse than 30000 at the MCG?

Re: Hottest Football Tickets in QLD this Weekend

Bearthur, the Brisbane Lions have never had a sellout.

We're using your logic remember - every single seat has to be filled... however we know how hypocritic you are... 9,000 empty seats at the SCG about three weeks ago and you still call it a sellout.

When was the last 20,000 sellout in Sydney where thousands were turned away at the gates?

Oh and how many of these 20,000 sellouts in the NRL have there been in Sydney this season?

Re: Hottest Football Tickets in QLD this Weekend

Because of the standing room I dont think you get actual 'sell-out's'. Just fill em 'till they fall back out then close the gates.

Contrary to popular belief in AR's culture, it does happen.

No the same, its crap. I aint bagging NRL out.

I have only been to the G once with 88K in it for a H&A.

That was exciting for me.

Dragons v Sharks (17,000 capacity)
Dragons v other team (forget) (17,000 capacity)

West Tigers v Bulldogs
West Tigers v Souths

More importantly, when was the last Sydney Swan's sellout that had its stadium full and thousands were turned away at the games
