I also don't agree that they named the players, but I don't think they had much choice after Channel 7 reported that it was Kosi.

Bloody Oath!!!
St Kilda only named the players because channel 7 came out with and accused the wrong player. Why are we gonna name players and throw the Police Investigation off? Why should we name the players... ITs accusations nothing is proven... THe team decided they all are in this together and players are willing too take **** too stick up for there teammates, until they are proven too be criminals (Highly unlikely), then its them for themselves!!!

The Latest... The Police are re-interviewing the Lady in question because her story doesnt add up... Her friend is believed too have said it was all consentual (She was in it), and doesnt know what her friends problem is...

Well Little D/ck.
I know WHICH football code has a over-inflated opinion of itself.

why doesn't patrick smith pour a bucket of **** over the afl as he did with rugby league and tarr the whole sport and all the players with the same brush??? why dont those gibbering journs at the smh claim there is a culture of gang banging and rape within the afl as they did with rugby league???
very perceptive mr noodnutter. a million people north of the murray river wonder the exact same thing.

We all know how "intelligent" thugby administrators are.A former official of the Bulldust instructed his players to appear before the Police in Shorts and Sandals.Indeed,a good image for the Club, dont we think?[not].

are you suggesing gary hughes went against a management directive to wear smart casual, and instruct players to wear shorts and sandals to police interview?

are you nuts?

Gearing up for the Commonwealth Games right now.
Just one of dozens of prestigious sporting and cultural occasions to come to Melbourne.

there is still a difference between AFL and NRL in the way they are handling the sex scandals.

the problem of young fit testosterone charge men is exacerbated by putting oodles of $$$ into their pockets and the adulation of fans that makes some think themselves above the law. it is a huge problem here in the UK with scandal after scandal involving EPL players and clubs.

However the AFL - at present and so far anyway - are handling the allegations the way they should be. Andrew Demetriou has come out extremely strongly and said the purpose of the whole sport is not just to play a game but to help make players better citizens and to improve society values. it was the right thing and a brave thing to call on claimants to come forward and he must have known there'd be a spate of allegations of past incidents - all on the eve of a new season. well done by the CEO of the AFL. now they need to take the issue as far as they did with curbing racism.

Patrick Smith poured oprobrium on the Canterbury Bulldogs and League because of the way the players performed at a police inques, the national team captain at a public dinner and the allegations that senior players and some officials lead mysogynist behaviour at club functions and away trips. something that probably happens occasionally in AFL as well - but not as far as anyone yet knows at the senior level in recent years.

As for Rugby Union, like Gaelic Games which despite Guiness swilling does uphold community values almost more than the sports themselves - which was the subject of my original thread on this board - the recent emergence from Amateur status is probably protective in that the culture is still one of players having their feet on the ground of normal civie street. though RU is famed for its bawdy after match scenes perhaps the fine line between coarse humour and rape is still seen. but with big money to young RU players that will probably change.

I can just imagine St Kildas thinking 'Lets hang these two out to dry, so we don't get into trouble'. ********s.

The budoggs decided "to stick by their palyers" and didn't name them and lost a sponser

The Sainters went strait a head on the front foot and named the players involved in the allegations and retained thier sponsers. Also maybee a nother reason why the St kilda named the two players was to show that the Club is bigger than the two players

you goose RLS. Because of the bulldogs silence thats why the players think and know they will get away with virtually anything. Not only is it a blight on the club to hush these things up, other people's names are being bandied about. innuendo and deceipt is eating away at the heart of the game

I bet Willie Mason felt like a real big man when he initially denied testing positive to cocaine and people were pointing the finger at Matt Utai.

Hi Guys and Gals.:)

Had to take a small nibble at this one.

Funny how things come back to bite you in the bum, as it has done to some of the afl people and media, but there are 2 things that have upset me a lot on this whole saga.....

1. Lack of media support for the alleged women involved.

2. Areas of the Melb. media (not all) that are constantly assuring the Mellb. public that they did it better than the NRL!

I can remember telling someone on the afl board that there were allegations of rape with afl players involved that that been hidden or money paid out to the alleged victims, and yet everyone (afl people) said that it does not happen in afl circles....:D

if anyone wants proof that afl players get special treatment from the establishment than other members of society, this is it.....

in brisbane 2 soccer players are standing trial for rape. apparently they stuck their fingers up their mate's girlfriend and fondled her breast while she slept. this is just a he said/she said situation without any real proof and yet these lads are in court facing serious charges.

compare this with the plethora of gang rape allegations levelled at afl players and not one case has advanced to court, even thou there has been ample evidence available to get a successful prosecution.

in the adelaide rape case a girl was drugged before being r*ped, in melbourne a stipper was covered in bruises after being r*ped by a carlton player, and yet this was not considered enough evidence to charge the afl players with rape.

soccer is not a high profile sport in oz, so the establishment doesn't bend over backwards to protect the game as happens with afl.

These are allegations so you should stop throwing them around as facts unless you were there. The police decided not to investigate any further. Are you really suggesting that the police are in bed with the AFL to save the reputation of sex offending AFL players?

This is all too disgusting for me, I am tuning out of AFL, I can see the death of the game in 5 - 10 yrs.

Mate you have got to be joking. League is now stuck in NSW and cannot get out. Whereas AFL has just about conquered QLD and moving onto NSW. Anyone with brains can see that RL is the dying sport. 5000 crowds at ur first grade games seems pretty funny to me.

Just buy some more premierships up north with somemore salary cap concessions..

What is it? 10 false premierships in a row yet.

AFL has just about conquered Qld?

AFL has done nothing of the sort. What do you base your theory on?

First of all, Queensland isn't Brisbane. Outside of Brisbane, AFL barely rates a mention.

Secondly, whilst the Bears are winning premierships, they'll draw in Brisbane, when they stop being successful, the crowds will dwindle, exactly the same as happens to the Swans.

Thirdly, there is no AFL equivalent of SOO, Brisbane TV blockbuster.

Fourthly.
NRL Grand Final rating for 2003: Brisbane 638,165.
AFL Grand Final Rating for 2003: Brisbane 575,200.

Brisbane were in the AFL Grand Final and weren't in the NRL Grand Final, yet the NRL rated higher than the ARL.

Fifthly,

NRL Grand Final rating for 2003: Melbourne 488,838
AFL Grand Final rating for 2003: Sydney 352,200

More people watched the NRL Grand Final in Melbourne than watched the AFL Grand Final in Sydney.

Deal in facts next time.

NRL.....a joke

nrl is the biggest joke in australian sport right now. afl gets WAY more support then ****ty nrl, lets cast our minds back to last year.........they decided to play Collingwood vs Sydney at stadium australia rather than penrith vs some other ***** team. plues crowds for nrl are pitiful, only 10,000 people at some games? thats hopeless. Plus AFL rates WAY WAY WAY higher than nrl easppecially in the grand finals. Australia didnt even come up with the sport Pommies did, whereas aussies came up with aussie rules footy.
Also nrl is soooo boring, not enough scoring, never ever any exciting games in it. NRL is slowly dieing just like the NSL did, it will DIE

What an eloquent argument you put forward tim. Eloquent for an Orang-u-tan anyway.

Collingwood v Sydney. What was the crowd? From memory, it was 70,000 odd. Nice. What were the TV ratings in Sydney and Brisbane on that match?

You can't find the ratings, because it didn't rate.

Rugby League isn't going anywhere and AFL is hanging on in Sydney and Brisbane only because the Swans and the Lions/Bears are successful at the moment.

When the "relocation allowance" is dropped and those two sides have to work from the same base as the Victorian teams, the slide will happen. And the fans who go to the matches will find something more exciting to do with their time. Probably learn Macrame.

And learn how to spell you Donkey.
