Sorry for this folks but I was just looking through the AFL web-site of some of our past trades under Judge and its just really cracked the ****s with me.

he made some OK ones, Getting rid of Gehrig allowed us to get Kerr which was a huge plus, but thats what we want to see.

How about some of the others though.

He got rid of White for picks 27, 45 and 57.

Those aren't great picks but IMO any pick outside of the top 20 is pretty even. There is very little difference between pick 25 and pick 75 for mine.

With those picks we could've picked up 3 young guys.

But we traded 2 for Michael Prior and Mark Merenda. Oooooooo god what we were thinking.

With the other we got Carroll.

With picks 27 and 57 Ted Richards by Essendon and Steven Sziller by Richmond were picked up.

They're not great picks but even Ted Richards has more future than Prior did.

As for Sziller, we wouldn't have picked him up, but with pick 60 the Kangaroos picked up Corey Jones, who is looking like he could be quite a decent centre half forward, just a player we could do with. Played very well last week against Freo in his first match of the season.

THen for 2001 - I dont know how much Judge had to do with this, but we picked up Seaby at 22.

We missed out on Steven Armstrong who is a Western Australia player expected to go in the top 15. If he's there at 22, you can't not take him. He's been quite a gun for Melbourne, while Seaby is yet to play and looks unlikely to.

And Paul Medhurst - how we missed him I'll never know, but that is a shocker.

I know its a bit of a gamble with the draft, but how Armstrong was missed was a REAL shocker.

Sorry for this, but i just cracked the ****s and had to complain, because we could've had a much better future. I know we already do, but there were a few REALLY DUMB mistakes made in that Judge era.

When placed next to some of the clangers of the Fremantle Football Club, I think we are still far better at recruiting.

Me personally I think their are far too many kids running around over east. How the heel are Brownlow medallists Woewodin & Black overlooked numerous times ???
Another classic example will come too fruition soon . Daniel Gilmore of Sth freo how he wasnt drafted last year has got me rattled ....... & Freo only get him in the rookie draft !!!

Trust me it wasnt only Judge who has stuffed up for the WCE , Malthouse never did anything whilst he was there as did Gerard Neesham at Freo!!!

The first mistake is that we hired Judge.

White wanted to leave the club, he was good for us as he has turned out to be a shadow of himself and was injured all the time.

yes, we missed out on Medhurst, but we had Matera and a couple of others that filled his spot. Armstrong was missed, but thats just the luck of the draw.

I remember worse back in the old days of Todd when we fluffed it badly by recruiting Shane Ellis and Clinton Browning. All clubs make mistakes, but I think we should be grateful that we have not blown it like the Dockers did with McLeod, Lucas, Bell, Clement and others. I am sure they have learnt from their mistakes too.

Plus, if you think of it, I am sure WC pulled off the greatest coup in drafting Heady at 86 and Kemp at 117 in the 1989 draft.

I think we are still in front in the recruiting stakes. :)

We dont except it at all. Do you's except failure ??? Mal;thouse didnt recruit shi'ite for years , only eating at the cake John Todd baked- Ken Judges failures were a direct result of Malthouses inadequacies in recruiting

No they were not original players.

They were recruited in the 1988 mid season draft (now defunct). As former VFL players they were brought in as experience for a young and up and coming side.

OK You said it - it is more than likely fact, all recriuted during the JT era and who else was recruited in this era ??? I am very sure a good majority of the premiership side ;)
