After reading the thread Pathetic by Strengththroughloyalty, Do you guys seriously think you are any chance of beating the great Colloingwood side? If ST Kilda couldn't win for Burkey, what hope have they got this week? I am not bagging your club, just asking a question about if you still have any confidence after yesterday.

I think potentially we CAN, I think potentially we are a top 4 side but St.Kilda has NEVER lived up to it's potential & I expect to be completely flogged by the Pies this week.

The Pies made Port look slow last night, when we played port they made US look slow.

It's going to be a shocking week, knowing what a gutless pathetic performance my "team" put in this week.

I'm in Perth & there was no media coverage of the match here on Sat so the thing I can bring to this is detachment.

From afar it seems that too many had their hopes set too high in expectation of a repeat of Stewie's big game for Burkie's 300th, the fact that this didn't eventuate seems to be the source of a lot of angst. Clearly they weren't much chop, but, considering injuries & youth, were they really that bad?

A week ago we were all reasonably upbeat after the hawthorn game, although we've since lost two key position players & put in an apparent shocker I'd still like to think that there is sufficient ability to at least give any side a fair dinkum match.

My ideal scenario for this week would be the early (& successful) return from injury of at least one big bloke, the players realising it really is backs to the wall time & the maggies being a bit cocky & taking things too lightly. I'm not getting into any chest thumping but I do believe that we can beat the maggie mob this week & look forward to saying I told you so next week :D :D

Of course we are a chance to win.

The great Collingwood side as you like to call them played very well on Saturday night and we were pathetic on Saturday afternoon. A similar performance from both sides would see a 10+ goal victory to the magpies.

However, I'm quietly confident that we can turn it around this week. I'm not sure which players of our injury (hamstring) list are due to return but hopefully we will get back at least a couple of Hall, Hudghton, Callaghan and Lawrence.

Surely the players will be keen to atone for last weekends performance and with a big week on the training track and the likelihood of a 50,000+ crowd, it will be a big opportunity for some of our kids to make their mark.

It will be the first opportunity for the vast majority of our supporters to see Burkey play since 300th and hopefully the players will fire up a bit more.

As for not winning for Burkey, Malcolm Blight made an interesting quote after Stewie's 300th. He said that he is wary of building up the hype for a milestone game too much because if we don't win, does that mean we don't like the player in question?

It will be difficult, but we are not without with a chance.

"The Great Collingwood side"

To quote several other posters on this board, I'm ROTFLMFAO.

Essendon are a great side, nobody else at present is, especially one with a 4-4 record.

I would say that Collingwood are very strong favourites this week, however it doesn't take a great side to beat us most weeks. It all depends on which set of psychos takes the field in the RW&B this week.
