At least his dad is here, so he'd still have one parent - plus a whole bunch of family.
And again, why is this an issue?

Have we really bred a generation that turns 18, gets drafted into our biggest football code, earning decent money for their age from day 1 and their first thought is "but mum & dad aren't there"... Really?

Nope, not an issue. But the lure of Father/Son isn't normally interstate. Surely you can concede he's less likely to nominate that a kid who has grown up in Perth with all of his mates and family.

Especially since Melbourne is a more attractive and exciting city to live in than Perth

Sure, I get that. I thought you were pushing family as a general preference rather than specifically in attracting a F/S...

I think Mark Murphy is proof positive that kids raised in Melbourne are probably the hardest to move especially when they know they are going to a Melbourne club if that knock it back.

Matera is unlikely a first round pick so if he knocked us back he risks Adelaide, Sydney or QLD ... that might be enough :)

Seems also that matera is less credentialed than waterman was at the same age so there'd be no guarantee he'd be drafted. Quite likely in that case he'd be keen to play for the eagles if we were to nominate him

Rawlings was key to the norf recruiting of recent years if memory serves. I don't know if he was around for the Aaron Black pick up, but damn that pick is going to pay off. Overall I think they've done well in recent times?
ahahha Aaron black. i think its safe to call him a spud now
