Well I too hope your wrong. I wouldnt' mind if Sylvester gets retained, but I dont' really want to see him on the Senior List, esspeacially not in Gourids' place. I hope we keep going with the big Goo. He is a big unit and was played down back when he's clearly a foward.

If Collard is gawn then i have no pitty. Just throw him on the pile with Ash McGrath and Peterson

looks like gourdis may be gone, rookie list possibility

Collard also gone, way too fat

howat gone

heard sylvester may be elevated, hope i am wrong

The Goo? Give the kid a chance FFS!

Pity about Collard.

Hmm interesting on Sylvester. He is the type of player we actually dont need. I wouldnt mind holding onto him incase we have injuries but we done need him on the senior list.

Yeah we allready have Rance trying to force into the team and Schulz can go back if its desperate, would be poor decision imo to put Sylvester on the senior list when the spot could go to a young kid.

Man I hate those VISY paper bags.
But I LOVE The Goo! Surely we wouldn't axe a highly talented project player after one year?
I don't wanna speculate too much, and his personal life is his personal life only, but am I correct in thinking the reason he slipped from prospective top 10 pick to the PSD was due to his severe depression, which hindered his prospects in the big leagues? I seriously hope this has not held him back if true.

Surprised to see Chris Johnson delisted from Melbourne (the half back, not the useless ruckman). Had a pretty good year, avg 27 touches between rounds 14 and 17 apparently, was a great Dream Team buy. I'm not overly excited about picking him up but at 22 is probably the best prospect in the PSD.

Wasn't delisted. Walked.
He'll get picked up 100% guarenteed!

Hang on a minute. Isn't there some sort of rule that says players CANNOT be delisted after one season, unless there is exceptional circumstances? Like we had to get clearance to delist Petersen and Freo had to do the same with Collard? Don't all players start on a two year deal? Or does this not apply to players picked in the PSD? I'm actually don't know any of this, hence all the question marks. Just a thought, anyone have a rock solid idea? That's bullshit if Gourdis is gone, we sure as hell better rookie the christ out of him!

is his last full year when according to you he blitzed, we finished last.
This year when he was 2nd in all those stats and 6th in another and 8th in the other, he was dropped to the 2s and we finished just outside the 8. Do you not see how irrelevant this player is to an overall result FFS? There are a 100 Hfs who can step into his position and produce the same stats, who dont play AFL. Do you know why? Because they dont have a ****ing effect.;)

If he hadn't done his knee would you be calling for him to be delisted?

Richmond has made the final changes to its playing list ahead of the 2008 National Draft.

David Gourdis has been delisted, while rookies Tristan Cartledge, Clayton Collard and Cameron Howat have not been retained on the Club’s rookie list.

The Tigers have made a total of five changes to their primary list after the 2008 season, with Greg Tivendale, Chris Hyde, Danny Meyer and Travis Casserly also departing Punt Road.

Jarrod Silvester has been retained as a second-year rookie for season 2009.

Gourdis was selected with Richmond’s number one pick in the 2008 pre season draft, but failed to play a senior game for the Club.

Howat was recruited on the rookie list in 2005 and broke through for five senior games at the end of the 2006 season. He played 15 games and averaged 14 possessions in 2007 while Mark Coughlan recovered from a knee injury, and filled in for one game in 2008 while Trent Cotchin was on the long-term injury list. He played a total of 21 games for the Club.

Cartledge, picked by the Tigers in the 2007 pre season draft, was also promoted to the senior list for two games during the 2008 season after playing seven games previously for Essendon.

In other news from Tigerland, the Club added two new staff members to the football department in the strength and conditioning area this week.

Terry Condon is the Club’s new Conditioning and Rehabilitation Coach, replacing Warren Kofoed. For the past 12 months Condon has worked on a part time basis with Richmond, in addition to working with Coburg Football Club.

Brendan Farhner has also joined the Tigers as Sports Science Assistant, after completing a 12-month honours research project with Geelong Football Club.

New Richmond assistant coach Wayne Campbell also started work this week following two years as an assistant at the Western Bulldogs.

The Tigers will enter the 2008 AFL National Draft with selections 8, 26, 58 and 74.

Nup, you just have to pay them out of the 2 year contract.

Although I'm not sure if the same 2 year minimum contract applies with PSD draftees.

You can delist after one year, but its rare.

There was a highly publicised case of Adelaide cutting a draftee after only on season.

I would say that if he has been delisted the club would have done whatever was required to do so.

Is anyone else as surprised as I am? Gourdis was the player I was most looking forward to seeing out of ANY of the untried players. I'm really cut by this. Thought we'd got a top 10 quality pick from the PSD. Do we really think we'll get more out of bloody Pettifer than Gourdis? Maybe his head got in the way, who knows.

Collard got delisted after his first season too didnt he?

Such a shame as the kid has talent just not the discipline ...I was hoping he may have woken up after harvey gave him the kick up the bum last year.

There was a post on our board last year that Collard (who was on our senior list at the time) was lapped by a rookie listed player who had to run back and also encourage him to finish the time trial (in last palce for his group). After reading that I thought his time was up.

If he has turned up out of shape again ...good move he knew the consequences and you don't get ahead in this game without self discipline.

so how picks does all this leave us in the various drafts?
We now have 4 picks in the National draft, we have to use 3 IIRC which would mean we could save 1 for the PSD. We will have 3 picks in the Rookie draft.

If you have to ask me that question, you are obviously a newbie.
BTW, have been reading alot of stuff about Gourdis and Collard over the stretch here, from our resident BF tiger "experts". From what they were spruiking, Collard was going to be magic and Gourdis was the next messiah etc etc....Couldnt and didnt provide any opinions on them as i prefer to form them on what i acutally see and hadnt had a look at them.
To those BF tiger forum experts, stick to your day jobs and either get a brain transplant or a visit to the optometrist beckons or both....;)

We get 5 rookie draft picks for this draft, RT. With the Gold Coast concessions coming in, the rookie list gets expanded to 6. :thumbsu:

I would prefer to use all 4 in the National Draft as the PSD is completely slim pickings. I dont think many would disagree on that.

Every club gets an extra 2 rookies this year.

So we get to pick 5 (Irish recruits not included). I can't believe the Big Cat was kept, he's pathetic (and yes I've seen plenty of him).

Does anyone have more info on Gourdis?

What happened?

Thanks for clearing it up. Wasn't aware of the extra rookie picks.
