Interesting to see what happens from here on out.

Yeah the quarterly was a bit of a bummer, well a bummer for all the people expecting $4-5 by Xmas . Hopefully they're all starting to piss off and I'll mop up a few more of their cheap shares.

Get some EPG- second half of 08 will shine.

I bought some shares in mineral explorers Eagle Bay Resources (EBR). Got in at 3.7c and are currently at 4.3c. Peaked at around 10c mid last year and has been on a downhill slope despite some relatively good announcments. I think they can head back up to 10c over the next 6 months however if they hit 7c ill probably bail out.

I got in just before the rise which was nice

MGX looks interesting. It is an iron ore miner in the Pilbara. The Chinese have been buying into it in recent weeks & the price is nudging up towards $3.00. I've bought in already, but a more cautious approach would be to see whether it can close above $3.00 before buying.

MGX closed above $3.00 today, so is looking strong. There seems to be plenty more upside for this one.

WSA is another I'm happy to accumulate at current levels.

For more speculative stocks, I'm looking at ADY, HRR & TMR, but they haven't given any Buy signals yet. They're worth keeping an eye on though.

Another interesting one is OMI. There are strong rumours around of new business in the USA, but the stock was sold down with the general market in recent times. If the rumours are true, it should jump quickly. I wouldn't Buy until I see evidence of a rally, but if I do, I'll be getting in quickly.

For now though, MGX & WSA are the only ones I'm Buying.

Hey Fat,

Also been tracking Mount Gibson MGX, interesting stuff, broker valuation on it at $3.50 so im tracking it. The way its going, anything out in Pilbara looks set to make you a good $$ or two. Just mention the letters FMG and the market comes running....Mention debt and the market goes hiding...see how she goes over the next week or so.

Spot price for iron ore has the general market expecting strong growth in 2008 so companies such as MGX will benefit strongly should the price go continue its hike!

have a look at FDL! mentions FMG and iron and the stock has gone nuts.

The one im most keen on right now and been buying out at Pilbara is AGO (Atlas iron), i wont mention too much at this stage coz yeah im just throwing some food for thought out there.

Feel free to have a look but please do your own research this is not financial advise.- thats my little disclaimer for PS146 compliance purposes, cheers

Yep. Both FDL & AGO look interesting. I don't like to have too much in spec's, but I'll add them to my watchlist.

WSA looks set for a strong open this week.

Your disclaimer goes for everything I've said on this forum too.

I was wondering how long it was going to be before anyone mention AGO! ;)
I have been riding this stock for a while now and am rather pleased with the results. Once they start shipping some material (estimated at Oct 2008) this stock should start performing very well.

As mentioned above, invest at your own risk.

Does anybody seriously read this thread and then buy the stocks recommended here by complete strangers?

im wondering whether anyone does their own valuations, or do people just act on a hunch or a tip they received.

obviously, forecasting cash-flows or earnings for an indepth valuation is dfficult unless you know the company very well, but even something as simple as comparing p/e multiples to the average industry and the average market is going to be more than helpful in selecting stocks for an investment portfolio, in addition to looking at trends and keeping up to date on company events.

hey guys, just spoke to my stock broker. Said to put some money into BPT, just put 5,000 into it this arvo. Was doing some research and its looking very, very, very good. Has its hand in nearly everysingle major oil production in the country and NZ. Has a small intrested in the development of a major gas project connecting a gas pipe between PNG and QLD. But the thing i'm most bullish about is that it has 40% stake with Arrow Engery in a Coal Seam Gas plant, with the importance of CSG in the future it seems to be a smart move on behave of the board. With strong volume everyday and an impresive chart there is no way that BPT is going anywhere but up.
Never been so bullish about a stock in my life, have recommended it all my family and friends and i hope people here take my advice on board.

Cheers and happy hunting :thumbsu:

for the record.. still holding ARU, a conservative announcement and bad market conditions has brought this one down, however medium to longterm ARU is going places

Been all over BPT from about $1 now, over the past year, seen alot of volatility but has always bounced back from lows so im quietly confident about it. its a quality stock that will continue to grow over time. Most certainly have plenty of prospects and I expect the potential to be realised in the medium-long term. Brokers are all over it, so they say plenty of "smart money" has hit this stock. In the short term concerns over margin calls could pressure the price down, although with higher oil prices expect it to continue along its merry way unless of course the whole ASX gets hammered.

Bought some shared in Mindax Limited (MDX) based on some advice from my uncle on the 10th of February trading at 16c. Today they hit 31c and have taken off with changes to substantial holdings which occured today. VERY happy with that :thumbsu:

Been watching it for a while now.

Sell off today seems to be on the back of a large hedge fund getting into credit trouble (KKR). As such anything relying on borrowings got smashed.

Watch out for QBE could be a big jump ala CSL when they report but like everything a ton of risk at the moment and most people are sitting on the side-lines.

Ive been trading Arrow shares for over 3 years now & orginally got in at 40c.
Have taken profits but don't hold any currently. Hoping they will have a drop in the near future, given the climate.
Have often mentioned CSG shares on this board, but had little response. Nice to see someone else having an interest.
Currently holding PES & BOW in CSG. Both are closely related to Arrow, & would pay to follow. Also keeping an eye on SHG although BOW hold the adjacent fields that are looking promising, & if they can replicate SHG things will be nice.

Very happy to be an OXR owner this week.:thumbsu:

If anyone did they would be bankrupt by now

Not necessarily.

On 7 Feb 2008, I said I was buying MGX. Since then it has risen from $2.98 to $3.40. Up 14% in 12 trading days.

On 8 Feb 2008, I said I was buying WSA. Since then it has risen from $4.80 to $5.52. Up 15% in 11 trading days.

They're the only 2 I've said I'm buying this year & I don't think you can knock those returns in the current market.

The others I said I have on my watchlist are ADY, HRR, TMR & OMI. I still haven't bought any of them, but am continuing to monitor them all. ADY is up 21% since then, but I didn't have any spare cash to buy in. HRR has been disappointing. TMR announced a big increase in its copper reserves today, so let's see where it goes from here. OMI hasn't done anything yet, but volume is increasing in market depth. With OMI, it all seems to hinge on US contracts. If they go ahead, this stock could be one of the biggest winners in 2008.

I wouldn't buy anything based simply on advice from this forum, but it can certainly alert you to some great stocks. If your own research supports those ideas, why not buy them?
