Any word on Jim?

Stynes has been written off that many times by people suppoesdly "in the know".

While I am not naive to believe that he will live happily ever after, I am also not going to believe every rumour or whisper. He wasn't supposed to live to see Christmas in 2009, yet he's still with us.

Keep fighting Jim!

The power of the mind over body is truly quite remarkable. Particularly i Jim's case. He can do things many could only aspire to.

Call me naive, call me an idiot, but part of me believes that if one were to have cancer and not told of it, they would do much better than if they were told. Sought of a "what you don't know can't hurt you" kind of theory. It's only when you are told of such an ailment that you start to believe you have it. Your body then just listens to what you're brain is sending it.

Jim is somehow able to "trick" his body and brain into thinking that whilst detracting, he is merely facing a slightly worse case of a common ailment, whilst knowing full well what he is in fact dealing with.

He chooses not to wither away and die, but fight. He then somehow summons every part of his being to give a minimum of 100% to the cause. He tells himself he is going to live, and his will power takes care of the rest. How long he is able to continue this, who knows.

What i do know, is that whilst many do try their hardest, Jim just seems to find another level.

Jim has so much heart, he could fill our entire playing lists requirements twice over. Truly an inspiration, role model and one whose red+blue heart is the size of Phar Laps.

love Jimmy so much, he really transcends the game of football. think of how much he has done for underpriveleged kids with his Reach foundation. He has helped so many people.

Just an amazing person.

And he will be around for a long whoile yet. :)

IT makes me sick the ways things have gone on around the footy club this year. Someone like Scully lies to him all year and keeps him stressing about that decision for the interest of the footy club when there is more important things he should be concentrating on, then he has to front a peace meeting between a bunch of whiney players and administrators over nothing more than club politics and basic bitchiness, then he has to front a media conference to sack Dean bailey because Schwab and Connoly were having a little tiff with Bailey.

I feel sick to my stomach when i think that the only way this club and these players are going to unite as one is when something unspeakable happens to jim, surely just seeing that man get out of bed every day with a positive outlook and smile on his face would give you the motivation to do whatever it took to be a successfull AFL player, because lets face it, thats about 1% of the effort jims put in.

These guys should be making him proud to be the MFC president right now, it shouldnt take for the worst to happen before everyone jumps on the same tracks.

I gotta say already, Jim Stynes is the greatest man and representative ever of the MFC, Beyond Barassi and co. I hope everyone shows him gratitude for what hes done before its to late.

Brilliant. Jimmy is the greatest Demon. Proof of this is 1987, anyone else would be hated on by supporters to this day. But not Jimmy, he made up for that a million times and more. Big big love for the man.

From what I've been told, sometime this year. But who knows, he has a mighty heart. Any normal man wouldv'e passed years ago.

Keep fighting Jim!
yep, we're going to hear the news one day probably soon although I hope not, although he has deliberately pulled right back from public appearances and Garry's doing it for him. I heard that he was really pissed off bigtime when $cummy left.

Exactly what I heard.

Without going into details, in the last week before Tom's decision. Jim had a HARD chat to Tom telling him a few home truths. Supposedly shut the Door and told him what he thought.

Jim is our beating heart! I cannot believe they didn't put him in Hall of Fame this year. He was part of the Irish experiment and won the Brownlow medal in his 4th season.

This was posted by Secret_of_the_Ooze last night on Demonology:

"Have it on good authority that Jim’s condition has deteriorated severely this week and that things don’t look very good. Although the doctors only ever gave him a few months when he first got diagnosed - and he showed little regard for those predictions! - I understand this week things have reached a new low. Hopefully he can defy all odds again, but you have to wonder how long one man can go on doing that.

Anyway just keep Jim and his family in your thoughts and prayers this week, and let’s hope for some good news for him and his family

Jim will be in the Hall of Fame soon enough. And you're spot on, he is the club's beating heart.

Here's hoping that Jim can keep fighting and that we have more and more supporters who bleed red and blue standing up to show some grunt and love for the club like big Jim!

Can I also point out that our own club started a Hall of Fame in 2001 which they stopped inducting people to in 2008.. http://demonwiki.org/hall+of+fame

Can I suggest Jim would be the ideal induction to restart this?

Will believe it when I hear it to be honest. I don't want to say that bloke is a liar or that his heart is in the wrong place but we need to be careful with the news we post of what is a delicate situation. We all know we wish Jim the very best but let's make sure we deal in complete fact at all times with it.

Thread has been closed due to the fact it is unconfirmed & is still considered pure speculation.

Take heed of such dire warnings, as they will likely continue to be presented.

But please wait until the club or his family makes comment before considering these suggestions as verified content..

Fight the fine fight Jim.
This is true but it doesn't mean we can't stop the prayers....I certaintly won't

I'm hopeful it's a misunderstanding or miss communication

Bravery, courage, words like that get chucked around a lot in footy.

Then you look at a bloke like Jim Stynes and everything takes a bit of perspective.

Go well big fella.

All the best to a TRUE champion.

His unfortunate passing will be not only a huge loss for the Melbourne Football Club, not only for the AFL, but for the common man. Jim always made time to with anyone that took the time out to address him (from experience), even whilst putting on a brave face for the sake of his family and beloved Demons.

Although his passing may be close, he has shown a tremendous amount of character, courage and willpower. His story is one that should never be forgotten.

It's unfortunate that it takes something like this to put footy and life into context.

The best of luck, Jim.

I can't stand to think of vomit like Hutchy waiting outside the hospital for a scoop.

This is the worst year as a Dees supporter I've experienced for so many reasons.

I will say one more thing

IF by some miracle he survives this there will be more "false alarms" and more bad days between now and then so untill there is anything offical, keep believing and praying
