Duds have their day

In the AFL the two dud teams, Melbourne and Richmond, have attracted some interest.
"Winless after eight games, Richmond have been completely written off by two Centrebet punters," spokesman Neil Evans said.
Bets of $1200 and $1000 on the Tigers to not win a game this season were taken at $34.
"They'll collect over $70,000 between them if the win column remains zero. Unlikely - even for the Tigers - but I admire the double act," Evans said. Richmond are now $21 not to win a match.
Davidson thinks the corner could be turned this weekend.
"We got $30,000 on Essendon this morning at $1.36," he said.
"Richmond keep losing but they're going to win a game some time this year and, against an average side like Essendon, I would have thought they were every chance of winning this week."
Sportsbook.com.au spokesman Howard Creagh reported some action for Melbourne.
"They're betting on Melbourne Demons against the Kangaroos," he said. "We've had one bet of $8000 on them at $2.40 and another of $5000 at $2.35 and they're now $2.25."

I wonder who placed those bets. Umpires? Ya think?....
