Sometimes, players don't even have to raise a sweat to raise hopes. When Collingwood stepped out for an early-morning session last Wednesday, draftees Ben Reid, Nathan Brown, Brad ******** and Tyson Goldsack entered the field together, duly noted in one report as "showing the bonds linked immediately upon arriving at the club".

Maybe the quartet just happened to walk out at the same time. But no, it's too early in the year for such cynicism.
