This series has been running for decades, and Ive just started getting into it again, playing the 2011 version with the Australian domestic teams.

Just wondering if anyone plays it. And what are your playing preferences - do you play every single game, or do you prefer to skip games and let the AI play them and just manage your team?

Have not played it since the 2010 release. It was a very good game for its time, still could get interested in it again at some stage.

I used to play every game but only vaguely manage it - set aggression and which bowlers but that's it.

Then I went through a phase where I set the highlights to 'high' and sim each ball individually. Can be tedious but it feels better when you win.

I'm actually using realistic players at the moment - ignoring the unrealistically good ones. Ie I'm using players like Forrest, Bailey, Mitch Marsh, Lyon, Doherty, Cummins when they're soooo shit. Trying to develop them into good players over time is fun. Winning every game with Pomersbach for example in the side was less fun.

Looking forward to the '12 release where these players are guns.

Love this game. Although the county mode is more fleshed out than the Australian domestic, so I tend to play that more often.

Find myself simming the longer formats and playing one-dayers and t20s. I only really do rough managing of the field placements... haven't bothered much with custom fields.

I bought the iphone app and it is pretty good. I also couldn't be bothered too much with field placings, a small customisation maybe, that probably didn't help me. I was also playing as the Redbacks though so it was pretty damn tough.

Using specific custom fields is only useful IMO if you're playing watching every ball.

I normally play all of the games.

I find the county format to be a little more exciting than Sheffield Shield. More flexibility with player signing ext.

I will play the 4 day matches a set highlights to Chances/Wickets.

I play 1 day games with no highlights and normally sim 20/20 matches.

I had stopped playing it for a while, but just got CC11 on my ipad. It transfers well to this device

it was a good game but it's pretty limited and they haven't done much to update it over the years aside from the database.

player development is still a bit off - i.e. i've had, or seen screenshots of, plenty of international teams 9/11 players have 70+ tests, 50+ bat ave or 25- bowl ave...

cricket coach is another good game, but the match engine isn't great and there are still a few bugs throughout it but overall it's potential is far greater than ICC imo.

Been playing them for 3 or so years, as the above poster mentioned they don't change much between releases. Thats the main problem. Its still the best cricket management sim though.

The game isn't very realistic so I play county because I don't know who in RL is any good. I've been playing it since Australian Cricket Captain 1998.

Used to play it a fair bit. The last version i played was ICC 3. Which was around 2010 i think. I generally didn't have the patience to change fields and stuff, all i ever did was change aggression. Though that did SFA for my chances anyway. Played a test match once and was 8 down with about 10 to get, chasing something huge like 450. Dropped my batters' right down to 0 bars, just take the singles and extras, and the crept up to 1 run behind. Then of course i lose 2 wickets in a row, with the last batsman being stumped after charging. HTF is that being defensive?

Those kinds of games really zapped any interest i had in it. Prefer to play the games where if i play a dumb shot it's my fault.
