My partner and I drove up to Sydney from country Victoria for the game, and we actually found that the Swans supporters around us were almost pathetically apologetic. They kept telling us that the better team lost, that they couldn't believe what had happened - that they were glad, but they felt our pain. I don't know wheter their sympathy made the experience better or worse. I found it impossible to get mad because these people had been so darned nice.
That was after Mad Dog's parents joined us in the Churchill stand before the game only to discover they should've been in Brewongle. Found this out completely by chance, as they were the only Geelong supporters sitting near me so I introduced myself.
I'm glad I didn't end up sitting with them. I think their pain would have been absolutely terrible to witness, let alone share!
