Can't believe you bag CC over his recruiting.... Think about who we still had on our list when he arrived in 2002 - and look at who we have now.

I am thinking about who we have on our list still, Pav, Bell, and Hase, all came to our club during Drums reign, and would be 3/5 of our top players. You are just rewriting history for the draft, you talk like Richmond/Collingwood were fools, when it reality we were just clever in our drafting. Pav wasn't a monty for no1, he had bad shoulders, and other clubs obviously didn't rate him. You talk like Drummy fell arsebackwards into high quality picks when he didn't. We drafted the hase higher than everyone thought he should go, but we have been vindicted.

Josh Fraser was the monty for the #1 pick that year. And was duly taken. Freo were always going to take Hase with their first pick, and that was a great choice. Partly because Hase is an under-rated star, but also because Richmond were dumb enough to take Fiora, leaving Pav for us. That's not clever, that's lucky. Imagine the carp we'd cop if Richmond took Pav - we would forever be defending Hase saying "he's really good but". When in reality, as good as he is, he is no Pav, and never will be. And don't say "they play different positions" - a dominant KPP is better than a very good midfielder any day of the week. We were lucky we got both, not clever.

And was Leigh Brown ever going to be anything other than a "good honest footballer"? I doubt it, yet we took him at #5 and traded him out 3 years later for pick #13. Have we ever missed him? Nope. Was there a plethora of better players Drummy could have taken with pick #5...? Well yeah for sure.

I will never bag Drummy for getting Belly back, he has been worth everything we gave away to get him - but he did cost a lot.

And yes, Drummy pretty much did fall arsebackwards into high draft picks. You don't get high draft picks if you're any good. You only gte high draft picks when you're bad. You want to blame CC for us under-achieving right now - it's the coach's fault we're no good. Whether or not that's correct is another debate altogether. But back when we were getting high draft picks, Drummy was the coach, we were carp - and we got high draft picks.... He fell arsebackwards into them cos of his own incompetence.

Alright, let's go through the results in recent seasons:
2004: Bottom half - unacceptable
2005: Bottom half - unacceptable
2006: Fourth - and you know what they say about even idiots getting lucky
2007: 40 per cent through the season and once again unacceptable

2001: 2 wins wooden spoon

Connolly appointed

2002: 9 wins 13th place - pass
2003: 14 wins 5th place - pass

Docker Dave elected to board

2004: 11 wins 9th place - fail
2005: 11 wins 10th place - fail

Docker Dave stands down from board

2006: 15 wins 3rd place - pass

Docker Dave reappointed to board

2007: currently 4/5 sitting 11th

Somebody say white ant?

Leigh Brown was a risky pick. At the time some rated him very high and other as late second round. Just the fact he was risky should have scared the club off. That they didn't take Glass showed the recruiting was poor around that time. Everyone missed McPharlin and as I recall was Ken Judge special on behalf of Hawthorn.

Part of the trouble was that we were broke. The Eagles had this extensive scouting network and still do. We had nothing. You'll notice many of our most successful recruits are rookies from Western Australia. You'll also notice a lot of our recruits are from country Victoria where Connolly had his own scouting resources -- his dad and mates.

I think that is overstating the influence we actually have here. ATEOD, we just pressing keys on a keyboard. But I do have picture of someone who has a wider view than the two boofheads under discussion:

Glass took several years to get his game together at WCE, and he was always going to be a defender. I think he was a good pickup by the WCE, but lets not pretend he was someone who got "missed" when he took 3-4 development years to come good.

I was swayed by an article where his junior coach said he was always going to be champ. It was in the West though.

The guys junior coach said he was always going to be a champ? That suprises me

I remember glass taking an absolute hammering from the fickle WCE fans when he had a couple of bad seasons, course now hes much lauded, but thats WCE for you.

During Drummy's tenor,

I'm not sure, because you come out with such a diverse range of rubbish, but I have a feeling that you may mean tenure? A tenor, is a musical reference regarding the range that a performers sings, such as The Three Tenors. Could you please clarify.

Before I go any further let me say I've never seen these shirts nor would I have any interest in wearing them at the moment. Now I'm curious to ask you lot some questions.

Can you read these people's minds and prove they want Fremantle to lose? If it were up to me I'd sack Connolly right now, but I'd love nothing more than for him to lead the Dockers to the flag and prove me wrong. Can you prove your allegation that these people don't feel the same way?

Utter rubbish in my opinion - expressing your opinion about the coach doesn't make you any less of a "real supporter".

Now just to repeat the rant I posted here a couple of weeks ago aimed at all you "you're not a real supporter" folk (most of whom completely ignored it) -

No doubt I've left myself open for the "you're not a real supporter" **** that gets flung around all too often. Aren't there better things to do than to spend your time classifying anyone who dares speak their mind as "not a real supporter"?

my 'real supporter' comment was not regarding the fact that they wanted connolly sacked as coach. rather i was challenging both the forum and method they were trying to use. i believe if it were icked up by the cameras on the ground it would only have a negative impact on the club and once again media pressure would mount u highly on both CC and the team, which may not have a positive effect performance wise. connollys contract ends at the end of the year (i think). im certain that hart and schwab will then sit down and reassess thoroughly the teams performance and connollys impact on that performance and make a decision from there as to whether or not he deserves an extension. mid-season after the club has won 4 out of its ast 6 games is hardly the time to sack a coach i would think.

agree or disagree with me if you want, thats your choice. just make sure you do it the right way;)
