Get off Dawes' back. The guy is being asked for now to ruck at 193 cm and a young age against guys who are ladders taller than him and well are actually knowing how to ruck - all so that we can rotate an extra small runner till our injuries balance out.

Not sure any confidence player would feel very confident under those conditions.

Did we notice an overhead grab or two tonight? Did we notice many more (intentionally or not) brought to ground for the crumbers? Um, did we then notice the spookey lack of crumbers?

We are playing with structural defects right now and the plumbers haven't quite got it fixed. Meanwhile Dawes is doing his part.

I think Seedsman gets a real easy ride on here in comparison to Sinclair. I mean Seedsman had 4 disposals today, 3 frees against and another further clanger. He did have some tackling presence but nowhere near what Sinclair brought. He has a lot of potential but isn't ready yet. I have to say I'd play Sinclair ahead of him on current form. If Sinclair can just learn to calm down a bit with ball in his hands, he's doing a lot of other things right.

We really need Didak and to a lesser extent Daisy (who would also free up Beams/Sidey to play some time forward) back in the side because our reliance on Cloke to kick/create goals is becoming overwhelming at this stage. St Kilda couldn't win a flag with one good forward and while we're not at that stage yet our forward structure is becoming a problem.

Even if you're not in the Sinclair corner, you can't fault his game today. pressure wise he was FANTASTIC! His tackling and second efforts were second to none, the perceived pressure he puts on as well creates numerous chances...

His finishing was off today, and that hurt his performance a little, but remember he has played 10 or so games, you can't crucify a kid for missing a few chances...

Beside his kicking for goal, his skills in play were fine.

Others that were great; Sidebottom (he is quickly becoming elite), Beams (Ball's injury is paving the way for him to step up into an elite onballer) and Wellingham (great attack on the footy)

Seedsman is not as good as Sinclair at this time. Ugle showed something, including a bit of lack of awareness at AFL level with the heart-stopping effort in the final seconds, but should also lose his spot ahead of Sinclair. Sinclair, Elliott , Blair and Ugle could not all play in the same side, could they? We will have a bunch of short people and lots of tall guys.

Well he does look down on Confidence and Form.

What you say he over thinking things is Exactly what Malthouse said before the Game

Interesting to hear.

I got the idea through Kyle Korver (NBA basketball player). When he goes through his free throw routine he goes through a 20 step process which he methodically goes through and goes through every time he goes to the free throw line. By focusing in on that 20 step process he focuses in on the process and in turn blocks out the stress of the result because his focus is purely on the routine.

Going for a set shot attempts at goal is much the same idea in that you go back with a process in mind and with that repetition and focusing in on the process every time you have a set shot attempt you block out that "pressure" aspect because that is no longer the focus.

It's just a mentality thing. With Dawes we know he can kick goals and convert regularly from set shots.

Cloke in a way with his crowd sounds did a similar thing where by playing the crowd sounds every time he goes back for a set shot he has in a way made it part of his set shot process and changed the focus into the routine which with it is bringing results.

Time for Dawes to take a leaf out of Cloke's book.

I was happy with everyone to varying extent.

Please, for God's sake, Ben Sinclair.....kick a ****ing goal...
You're friggin killing me...............
I'm an old man.

ps Dawsome will come good.

Im not Dane Swans biggest critic, nor am i his biggest fan.

But is that the best game he has ever played?

Big stage, tight finish, seemed to be alot more polished than you would expect for a bloke who had 42 inc 20 contested.

So - you guys watch him every week, is that his best?

i remember him playing a game against port adelaide where i swear he single handedly pulled us back from a massive margin and we ended up winning the game. well, didak helped a little as well. i also remember he didnt get the three brownlow votes, pearce did. was shocked.

he's probably played games around today's mark, but none better. i'm not sure it's possible to do much more.

Swan's best ever all time game would have to be v Essendon (round 19, 2011). Was even more destructive. 45 disposals. 10 marks. 11 inside 50s. Was an absolute freak performance and i've never seen him hurt a team the way he did in that game.

In terms of big games I loved his final v WCE last year. 43 disposals. 9 inside 50s.

Swan's best defensive game was grand final 2 v St Kilda was excellent. Only had 26 disposals but 11 tackles was big and absolutely left everything out there that day.

I'd have todays game well inside his top 5 all time though. It's a pleasure to watch great performances by any of the best players in our game.
Of Swan's "big game, games" (v Essendon r19 last year shouldn't count) I'd rate todays performance second only to his final v WCE.

But it was a sensational game and a pleasure to watch.

Sat in front of a pessimistic old trout in the Ponsford Stand who was rubbishing everyone... so it was surprising to hear him say in hushed, reverent tones... "Sinclair's been good today, hasn't he?" :D

Agree with your points Snoop, with my addendum's:-

T Goldsack - fumbly, but as a natural backman he did a great job on Fletch

N Brown - First game back, goes BANG and shuts the door on the comp's in-form forward. That fist in Q3 was superb

B Sinclair - Has courage and endeavour in spades. Some brilliant 1% in the middle of the ground where he always stuck to the ball carrier and caused a spillage

S Wellingham - He really wants his spot back. 2nd and 3rd efforts, hard running and some great vision. Really impressed to see him step it up

M Clarke - Wasn't watching him too often but post-match read that he pretty much sat on Stanton. Won a lot of ball for a tagging role. Seems to stand up in a tackle much better now, too.

D Swan - How much did he want the ball today. Must have rolled in dead cats pre-match because noone went near him. The runs at goal were exhilarating.

Interesting to see our game plan slowly taking shape. Players seem to be getting to the right spots now and can adapt when they need a Plan C or D.

Was so proud today to see them lift the way they did :thumbsu:

agree with all that

Jolly had 41 hitouts, 8 tackles and a goal.

He was far more then ok, very good game is usually the term given when one ruck has double the amount of hitouts, and more tackles to any other ruck.

not sure many have said he was ok - i think most thought very good. My only issue with him yesterday was the fact he gives away free kicks at crucial times. When he is out positioned he seems to want to grab them etc and the umps are onto him. Anyway was his best game of the year so hope he maintains it from here. I think the coaching group are also of the view he is better when its just him. Seems to thrive on the work.
