92,000 at the MCG, when's the last time the Tigers got that for a home and away game if ever?
Richmond have only got 92,000 once way back in 1977 on Anzac Day but guess who they had to play to draw that crowd.....Collingwood

Collingwood and Essendon are the biggest clubs in Australia. Richmond are no way near as big as Collingwood or Essendon. Richmond have to reply on Collingwood, Essendon or Carlton to draw a huge crowd during the home and away season

Lol ... it's never going to change. You need two side who will still get a crowd of 90k no matter where their position is on the ladder. What might be fair is if there is another game played in the evening elsewhere. The other benefit to that is that Collingwood and Essendon against the other two teams the week prior and following the ANZAC day game so no one has any recovery advantages.

VFA premierships don’t count..

If... we were to count VFA premierships, Essendon would have 20 Premierships... therefore making your argument to change teams in this match, null and void..

Do some research next time before starting a new thread..
Then VFL premierships don't count considering it's an AFL competition..

I don't know which bit is funnier...

Biggest club
Most successful club
Or the idea that Collingwood would play at KP.

Overall, I'd say having all 3 together overcooks it a bit and pushes this troll down from good to merely average.
Give it a few years and your mob will be playing back down there again.

Of the 'Big4' , Richmond are the only ones that have played there in about the last 20 to 25 years.

Thank **** this thread wasn't started by a Geelong supporter.

It's Essendon and Collingwood, because those sides have the ability to draw a crowd while both playing like shit. Geelong - much as I love 'em - can't do that.
Are you sure it wasn't started by a Geelong supporter?

This match up makes perfect sense for the biggest home and away fixture on the AFL calendar.

The biggest club being Collingwood.
The most successful club being Geelong.

Rotate the game between the MCG and Kardinia Park.

Collingwood vs Essendon has become too one sided.
Sorry but how does that work? Collingwood is not the biggest club that would be Richmond, Geelong is not the most successful club that would be Hawthorn. The Cats home ground is too small to accommodate ( just look at the 90+ at the game yesterday).

Collingwood are the 5th biggest club and Geelong are equal third for success

Premierships Since 1990 - Success
1) Hawthorn X5
2) West Coast X4
3) Brisbane X3
4) Geelong X 3
5) Collingwood X2

Memberships as of 2018 - Biggest Club
1) Richmond - 100726
2) Hawthorn - 80302
3) WCE 80290
4) Essendon 79319
5) Collingwood 75507
6) Adelaide 64739
7) Geelong 63818

By your logic is should be Richmond v Hawthorn at the G. But we all know the traditional rivalry between the Pies and Bombers make it a great spectacle with huge numbers year in and year out.

Especially after this booing display by the fans post game here.
Usually I'm all for booing but theres a time and a place.

Have said it before and I'll say it again....Essendon and their fans....the scummiest, least classy embarrassments of the league.

Disgusting club, I'd be so ashamed to support the rats.
Said it before and Ill say it again,

The sad part about supporters bagging out other teams supporters, is that they are in COMPLETE DENIAL that they are just as bad as each other. No one teams supporters as a whole are better or worse than any other teams supporters. When they do bag out supporters they just make their own fans looks stupid --- From a proud long time West Coast Member.

Go re read this guys OP, and then find one of my previous posts, where I mention that since the AFL era, Hawthorn are the most successful club with 5 premierships...
Of that there can be no doubt, they did it in the 90s, the 00s & the 10s ..... :thumbsu::thumbsu: ... in the national comp !!

They are not going to change a fixture that yields 90k+ every year. It is a hugely successful fixture and one that both Essendon and Collingwood deserve a lot of credit for creating and promoting.

It would only take a few years for any tradition or goodwill to be squandered by a different fixture. Before you know it the Anzac fixture is played before 40k at the MCG and nobody gives a shit. Take the Good Friday game for example. A promising start a couple of years back with 43k but by year two the fixture drew just 34k. Essendon comes on board and the crowd rises to 48k. If you were a betting man you'd take the odds on them repeating that fixture next year.
