Sorry if this has already been asked...I can't seem to find anything on it though.
What is the ticket situation for next week? Will ordinary season ticket holders (i have the 18 melbourne games membership) have much of a chance at a seat, or should we just book seats?
thanks!
great win last night, by the way. my band was playing a gig in richmond, (which hurts me a little to do if it's on a game night), and it's always very nice to announce to the room a collingwood win.

Email I received earlier in the week from the club.

We wish to remind our members that the upcoming ANZAC Day clash is a designated seat ticket game.
General admission members cannot scan their membership cards for the ANZAC Day match and are required to purchase a reserved seat or standing room ticket to gain entry to gain entry.
The first 1000 Collingwood Social Club members to scan their membership card at gate 1 will be permitted access to the standing room area Ponsford Stand, on a first-in basis.
The final release of tickets to the annual ANZAC Day blockbuster against Essendon will take place this Tuesday April 20 via Ticketek at midday.
Collingwood Members yet to secure a ticket to the ANZAC Day match are advised to purchase from this release through Ticketek:

  • [*]By calling 132 849 from midday Tuesday April 20
    [*]Online via www.ticketek.com.au
[*]In person from your local Ticketek outlet.
On the above date a limited number of full-view reserved seat tickets will be released, with resticted view seating and standing room tickets.

Seats for Anzac day?

I know they go on sale tomorrow via ticketek but I was trying to get the 'lil un along as well and fat chance I'll be able to stay all 4 quarters in standing room.

If anyone in the Collingwood brethren has 3 seats up for grabs because they can't make it or something comes up or whatver, would appreciate it if you could PM me.

Cheers

(P.S. I don't want to enourage scalpers so I'm not going on eBay or anything like that. It was more of a last chance - and que sera sera if I miss out)

Yeah, that's pretty crap. My premium membership tix 2 years ago got us great seats for that day... but GFC saw fit to be rid of those lovely luxuries [sob sob]

wanted anzac tickets

i am desperatly after 5 adult standing room tickets if anyone has any available i will pay any reasonable price.logged onto tickettec today at noon and still missed out.if you have seats that is ok aswell

Re: wanted anzac tickets

Beats me how scalpers on eBay have so many tickets for sale and people here whinging they cannot get tickets.
There is one dude with thew name pants1990 who has sold over 100 tickets at around $100 per ticket. Another dude that calls himself onlythebest has over 3000 feedback and has also sold well over 100 tickets.
That w***er was selling tickets in the AFL members section for the Collingwood v St.Kilda game and I as an AFL member missed out on a ticket in that section for that game. Slept in on the day they were released.
Every year when tickets go on sale, the first game I buy tickets for is the ANZAC day game. I never have problems getting tickets.
In future, if anyone wants tickets for ANZAC day, buy them from ticketek immediately when they go on sale. You cannot miss out.
The general admission tickets this year were $35 and $44.50 - all depends where you wanted to sit.
AFL members only pay $6 and $2.35 for juniors.
I bought 12 tickets for my family and friends, all of whom have AFL memberships and who go the the game every year. I had no problems at all in getting the tickets.

Isn't it against the law to buy a bunch of tickets and sell them for a profit? Aren't these blokes on ebay just scalping?

Not on the anti scalping list

Its still technically illegal, but doesnt get stopped by ebay or whoever like the selling of finals tickets which is on the list

Re: wanted anzac tickets

I logged on to Ticketek yeterday, and i use my usual trick buying kids standing room tickets for $5.50 each, there is a massive loop hole here, you simply print them off and walk straight in no questions asked as long as the bar code scans the turnstyle opens. MCC staff dont say a word.

The traditional ANZAC Day match against Essendon has become one of Melbourne's major sporting events. This years ANZAC Day clash is now sold out.

The only way to guarantee your spot is to take advantage of our special 2010 ANZAC Day Membership package.
For only $150 you will receive entry and a premium reserved seat to ANZAC Day as well as our round 17 and 21 home games at the MCG against Richmond and Adelaide.

You will also receive a 2010 member cap and Finals access to week's 1 to 3 of the Finals, for any matches in which Collingwood is participating.
Importantly, you will be counted as an official 2010 member of the Collingwood Football Club.

But hurry, these packages will only be available until 5pm Thursday April 22, unless sold out earlier.

Sounds like the club itself is withholding tickets with the intent to "profit" (by inflating membership numbers) from it.

But yeah, I bought mine the day the went on sale, back in late Feb/early March I think. Only way to guarantee the seats for me.

Sounds like to me that the club had left over reserved seats that were offered in an 11 and 18 game package at the start of the year, so instead of letting them go, they are trying make good use of them.

One of the better initiatives this, will get more 3 game members on board, who then may take out larger memberships next year.

Plus, with tickets on EBAY for 100 +, if you are desperate to go this week, 150 for ANZAC day + 2 other games doesn't seem so bad.

Fair enough then, surprised there would be some left, but hadn't though of that. :thumbsu:

Last year, close to kick-off I noticed lots of people trying to off-load tickets outside the ground. There is no way I'd pay over the odds for a ticket when I strongly suspect you could pick something up at face value (or less) on game day.

What really p****s me off is that the game is sell-out, yet there will probably be less than 90K there (history shows it). Something is seriously wrong - scalpers, the clubs or the two in collusion. Whatever, something stinks!

I strongly suspect you're mistaken.

The flogs outside the ground will be (mostly) the same flogs who are flogging them on ebay. If they didn't manage to flog all the tickets on ebay in time, they will take the unsold ones and head to the ground, to flog them there.

Yes, I'm sure they were the very same flogs but I was fascinated that they had handfulls of tickets and were absolutely desperate to get rid of them. I didn't check (should have done) but I'll bet I could have picked something up for half-price. I reckon they'd have had to write-off quite a few of their ill-gotten tickets (probably compensated for by the criminal mark-ups for the eBay stuff etc.).

If you are desperate, it's worth a go I'd say - but, remember, leave it until right on game-time (or even a bit later).

There is no loop hole, believe me.
You have been lucky.
Most of the time, they don't check, but you might get a smart ass busting you. When you scan in, it tells them on a small screen what kind of ticket you have.
I took a friend last year to the Melbourne game because my wife and kids did not want to go. Another friend of mine took another friend. He has an AFL membership and I had 2 adults. As a result, we were 1 adult membership short. We decided that someone scans in with the junior memberships and we got busted. Copped a warning.
Moral of the story is that - Yes you can get away with it, but be careful.
Make sure you scan in when there is a big rush and make sure you have a good look at who is working on the turnstile.
Stay away from the old batts because they pay attention to everything.
Just observe who is not doing their job and not interested and scan in there. :D
