The fact she is ZERO chance of winning the Australian Open may have something to do with it. I want to watch the players that might win the thing on Rod Laver. Sharapova has more chance of winning it than Groth. I mean seriously even Henin who bores the living daylight out of me would have been a better choice.

Still has 3 grand slams to her name as well as a final to her name. 4 more than Groth has. She is more likely to win it. I would rather watch Venus/Sharapova/Henin on RLA- they all have grand slams to their name and are some chance. They may not win it, but they are more likely than a girl who has a best result of a 4th round.

Yes, but this is out slam, not anyone else's. Aussies like to see Aussies playing, so they should get the bigger stadium. It doesnt matter how many Grand Slam titles a player has got, if people dont want to watch the match, they they should be moved to another smaller stadium.
RLA was only half full for Sharapova's match this morning, it was just not a big draw card for an Aussie audience. Compare that to an up and coming Aussie girl, playing off against a mid-range seed in what should be a very tight contest. After watching that match by Sharapova, i wouldnt want to pay a ticket, or go to the game. It was that bad.
In saying that, Most womens matches in the early rounds are not very well attended compared to the mens, for the simple fact is that none of them can put on a clinic when they demolish someone, like what the Fed Express was going to his opponent.

I will so laugh at the ratings worldwide when one of the top women players are playing compared to Groth, will be hilarious actually. Aussies may want to attend and watch Australians, but people in the UK, USA, etc want to see the best players playing. Nothing else. RLA is always half full on day 1- you would be insane to pay $100 a pop to see first round matches, they are floggings.
