We've had:

Nadal - 3
Djokovic - 0
Del Potro - 2
...

8/20 is PATHETIC!
And for the majority of the 8 that were shown, they either didn't show the full match or it was on delay!! Piss weak.

The official Oz Open site has said 7pm start time all day, yet 7 want us to watch their stupid preview/review show.

It is actually advertised as a 1/2 hour preview/review show at 6:30 in the tv guides.

Of course good ole 7 are showing that and going to the delayed game at 8pm your time up here.

What a joke. Courier hasnt even seen the first two sets and now he is comentating on the match. More crap from 7. Although I will at least give them credit for sticking with this match.

Jesus, had to sit through the worst promo in history. Roddick's voice being dubbed, crying to the chair umpire with some shit about a cockatoo on the net, and his ball being shot.

So back to 7:30 tomorrow to accomodate home and away. **** i hate channel 7. I already struggle to see much of the night session cause I have to get up early for work and now they cut in to it by another half hour. What was the point of starting play at 7pm in the first week? They said it was to stop matches running late, but the AO organisers have basically buckled to channel 7 and gone back to starting the night session at the old time so they can show some crap teeny bopper show that should have been axed years ago!

I really wish they'd stop trying to use sport as a vehicle to get higher ratings for their shithouse shows, they do the same thing with the footy.

Agreed. I realise play by play commentary does not work on TV, but there is some serious talent amongst that group, (excluding Craig Willis of course). Craig Gabriel has forgotten more about Tennis than Sandy Roberts ever knew to begin with. He simply loves the sport, and understands it very well. He would be a great replacement for JA in the Mens matches.

Listening to Sandy Roberts call Tennis is beyond excruciating these days, it is seriously embarrassing listening to him waffle on, sprouting the same old cliches time and again. Louise Pleming is clear, concise, and has a good tennis brain. A straight swap for Roberts in Womens matches.


If it were up to me, I would push for the following changes:
In: Craig Gabriel, Louise Pleming,
Out: John Alexander, Sandy Roberts

They should also throw some money Darren Cahill's way, and try to get him on board for 2011. He commentates for a US channel now, I like his work.
With him on board, you could get rid of Chris Dittmarr as well.

I know they're not going to change a whole commentary team in one year, but they have to start having a good look at their callers, they can't allow such amateurism to continue indefinitely.

Has anyone contacted them, what do they have to say? (Adelaide, Brisbane, Perth)

With the amount of filler they put before their coverage (e.g Saturday night), with the half hour time difference (in SA) they could go straight to live coverage. e.g tonight in SA we'll see replays from the day, a round of Kia Hotshots, slow motion montage and the hit up/ warm up and the game will start about 8pm.

Agree, it's like the tennis is a sideshow and all of their upcoming shows, are the "main event". Maybe so from a ratings year point of view, but i'd the vast majority of viewers want to watch TENNIS. And not have to put up with the many commercial breaks (especially when one match finishes, and waiting for the next to start) or product placements.
