Yes, but this is out slam, not anyone else's. Aussies like to see Aussies playing, so they should get the bigger stadium. It doesnt matter how many Grand Slam titles a player has got, if people dont want to watch the match, they they should be moved to another smaller stadium.

And that's because of our insular, jingoistic AUSTRALIA IS GREAT attitude. Sadly, most Aussies only recognise other Aussies and Williams, Sharapova (she's hot duuude), Rafa and Federer.

I want to see the best tennis. Not just Aussies trying to scrape into the second round.

This match 7 have on at the moment is great. Crowd is full and hot, right into the match, it's tight and tense and it's fantastic quality. I know it's a non-PC viewpoint, but there should be minimal women's tennis shown before the quarters. The depth of quality is non-existent so we get treated to 60 minute floggings.

Wickmayer vs Groth is an Aussie AND one of the better first round womens game, no brainer really.

Not talking about that one so much. It's a good decision and I know that Aussies are going to be shown in prime-time because they rate. But, during the day sessions, they shouldnt be showing Sharapova vs an out-of-shape Thai.

Plus, I dont have an issue against Groth because she's from my area. :)

bombersno1 - I think what you're forgetting is Groth isn't playing some unknown

Wickmayer(seed) vs Groth(very close to seed) will rate better than Sharapova vs Tanagasaradadkajmkgs or whatever her name is around the world.

No it won't- people recognise Sharapova wherever she goes. She rates through the roof due to this. There is a difefrence between a better match and better ratings. Monfils was a better match, Federer would rate more, hence why one is on Hicense and one is on RLA.

As a tennis lover and a sports lover you are absolutely insane if you don't get Foxtel. I mean there is something called BUDGETTING, if I can afford it with a young baby, I am sure you can afford it. I make sacrifices. Don't have that extra pint of beer, don't have that extra bottle of vodka...pack your lunches to work, walk to work. There you have saved enough to have Foxtel. Not hard at all.

Used to have ALL of the packages prior to the digital change over. Funny thing is that with the change over, some of the channels swapped into different packages (ie: some channels swapped from the basic package, to the various entertainment packages, and some channels changed from one entertainment pack to another). Even though we had all of the packages it was still confusing seeing the price go up and up and up, and the channels changing in the packages.

To combat the cost my mum thought it would be a "great" :)eek:) idea to abandon the sports channel package. Lets not get rid of the movie channels which are watched once every couple of months .

In EXACTLY the same boat. Mum watches about 1 movie a month, maybe even less. I'd be watching sport all the time. The movies are just crap anyway.

Certainly is for those people who pay full price. You would be surprised at how much discount you can get if you haggle with them. I get basic + sport + iq2 for $36/month (normally $70/month). I probably could have gone lower if I tried harder.

How the hell do you do that? Who do haggle with?

It really depends on several factors:

1) Are you a new or existing customer?
2) If you are a customer, are you in or out of a contract?
3) Which department you speak to

I have heard new customers get a better deal while others have said it's better for foxtel to retain existing customers.

I would do a bit of a read through this thread on whirlpool http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1496480&p=48 It says what sort of deals people are getting (both for new and existing customers). Some of the savings are fantastic!

I was an existing customer out of contract. I called up the cancellation department and said I wanted to cancel due to not finding any value for money. Straight away they started offering discounts. Here's one of my posts on the whirlpool thread.

This is what I was after:

6 month contract
Get started
Sports
No IQ2 rental fee

1st offer $50/month
I said no

2nd offer $43/month
I said no

3rd offer $40/month
I said no

Was told that's the lowest they would go and had 48 hrs to make a decision. Same rep called today and I said $30/month and I would sign up. Came back with an offer of $34/month for 6 months. I said lets do it. So a saving of $36/month.
If I wanted to haggle even further, I could have arranged a cancellation date. Foxtel have another department, known as the retention team. It's their job to convince you to stay and where the big discounts are there to be made. So I could have waited until they called me but I was happy with the savings I got.

A bit different for new customers but I have heard of big discounts for them if you go about it the right way. It's a good time as foxtel want more customers due to competition with FTA digital channels.

I'm existing. I rcently cut down from Platinum to basic + sports. The problem I find is that because everything is bundled with Telstra I always speak to a Telstra operator.
