Yeah I like Courier but I don't think they need two tennis analysts. Or maybe they should be a trio as they seemed to work well. Now what to do with Bruce.

I disagree 100%. Tennis is a sport where you do not need a commentator like Mcavaney. We can all see what the score is and anyone can read out stats. When watching tennis I want analysis and that is what experts provide.

Get rid of Bruce, he adds nothing except one line that gets replayed when there is a winner. I don't get the hate for Courier, I like him. And to my surprise, Hewitt is quite good and spent his time analysing the game rather than mindlessly giving us a history of each player.

Didn't catch as much of the Open this year on TV as I would have liked, but from what I saw they used Hawkeye a lot more in the final than in other matches - and about time. I've always felt it was a great resource for tennis - I would love to see a selection of serve flight paths all running simultaneously (a la cricket deliveries) to see the different swing and bounce players can generate.

They did a good job with it this year.

I think they finally realised that they can't treat people with contempt and show delayed matches as "live", not with smart phones adding to the internet in general as an information source. That was always their worst sin from my pov.

The link between the main channel and the digital channel worked well for everyone, obviously it could go further still in that regard but at least it is something and we don't get cut off completely for news/home and away.

Hosts/commentators etc are minor gripes. At least no Fitzy and JA. Courier and Hewitt are both excellant. Bruce is bruce. They should just use some unknowns to anchor, Griggs and Hamish don't bring anything to the table.

I got to say Channel Seven's coverage this year was fantastic. The use of digital channel is now very well done, they seems to stick to the tennis throughout the coverage. When one match finishes they are off to another live match, if you go back to coverage 5 years ago, there was a lot of fluff pieces, replays and nonsense that was shown. They essential streamlined the coverage which is fantastic.

Commentary team is good for the most part. They really found a great team with Bruce, Lleyton and Jim, for the love of God, please sign Lleyton up for when he retires. Great insight,s ame goes for Jim as always and he can mix it up with good humour. Bruce does his role fine, it doesn't really bother me if there are two other analysts like Jim and Lleyton there but many other people have issue with it. As long as you have a couple of good analysts there to back him that host role up, it's fine and actually necessary to have the host there, more to give the atmosphere than anything else.

But when you don't have good analysts to abck it up, then it turns bad. Hamish and John Newcombe were awful. Hamish with his horrible comments and mistakes and Newcombe with his lack of analysis, yes we get it John, if they come in to the net and maybe serve and volley a little more they'll become the next Jesus. But apart from those two the team is pretty good. Smith, Woodbridge, Rasheed all do solid jobs as well.

But the main thing is they are showing everything as much as they can (if it's not doubles) which gives us solid coverage, it's what we have been crying out for years. Just mute the MKR ads and Jo Griggs.

I think Hewitt was the highlight of channel 7's coverage. I'm getting a bit over Courier, would love to see J McEnroe back on channel 7.

7s coverage only got better once the australians were knocked out. when the aussies were in it. we didn't see any of novaqks matches and barely any of murrays. the hosts were terrible as usual
Obviously being at the tennis I don’t know of their coverage in the first week, but my brother said the exact same thing. He was over every single Aussie being shown while Djokovic and other top guns were being ignored.

Totally agree with both points. We should entice Jason Goodall to be our main guy, not that he'd agree to it, but I feel like he's wasted.

Haha. but to be fair when your biggest problem with Seven's coverage is the hosts, it generally means there aren't too many issues with the coverage. Thought they did a great job this year, really focusing on showing live tennis instead of the crap they have done in previous years. Along with the coverage of the minor events on 7Two so they can be shown uninterrupted (not cut off at 5pm for repeats of Mash), they did a good job, hoping for the same in 2013.

Now if only the WTA would announce who is showing WTA Premier events on Australian tv, that would be better. Europsort looks to have dropped out of coverage.

Now for Hamich mcFlog to follow Griggs. I hate everything that bloke represents (let it be known I couldn't stand him before the wiki editing saga :p). Just a smug moron who knows nothing about anything. Seven's coverage of Wimby was pretty good I thought, hopefully its the same for AO.

This year's AO and Wimby coverage shows they are focusing on showing more live tennis as they can, and keeping up updated on all the matches around the grounds. Much better job this year, i'm hoping Seven follows the same lead next year.
