i suppose we will only see 1 point of of the top seeds in the first week again. it's will be australia week on 7 in the first week of the tournement
Is this really a problem? It does annoy me when they show a rather boring match involving an Australian instead of a tight exciting match involving a couple of foreigners. But I'd still prefer to watch Aussies than Federer and Djokovic handing out bread products to Challenger players.

Apart from Rosol going ballistic on Nadal at Wimbledon, I can't remember the last time I saw an exiting match involving one of the top 4 seeds in the first week of a Slam. Usually they're the most boring matches in the draw.

they usually have empty press rooms on the mega wall. when did you see that

It was on during the Brisbane International Tournament. It happened a couple of times during the matches. I can't exactly remember which matches but I'm sure one of them was the semi final between Dimitrov and Baghdatis. They decided to split the screen into two and play a press conference during a really important stage during the 3rd set. It was really annoying. I hope they don't do that during the Aus Open.

Why they do this I have no idea (other than Ch 7 simply trolling us as usual), you can just play the audio of the interview without needing to split the screen in two.

Saw that a camera was attached to a ball boy today, gosh Ch 7 are so innovative!

Next channel 7 will be filming the tennis using instagram filters

I don't understand the press conference thing. Surely there are better times to play them rather than DURING a match?

Considering how many changes of end you get during a set, each lasting a few minutes it is pretty crazy, wouldn't want to bite into valuable ad time though, clearly. Ch 7 always deliver such a sloppy and unprofessional product no matter the sport.

They've done this for the past year or two at least, and since they did it in lead-up tournaments, you can be certain they'll do it at the Aus Open, with possibly even more 'great' new (crappy and annoying) features in their coverage. I know the networks aren't under any real obligation to do what is requested of them by the viewers, but the viewers may very well switch off if their frustrations mount.

there are other seeds and there is always a big upset in the first day or 2 and those matches usually go the distance. it's always a wankfest by woodbridge and bruce

are we stuck with hamish doing the after match interviews. God help us if thats the case

Last year when he interviewed Azarenka the arrogance between them both would've been enough to shatter everyone's tv screens. Although, I'm starting to think Basil's actually worse.
How about Tom Williams? The bloke just oozes ****wittery.

Finally starting to warm to Woodbridge as a commentator. He does have a tendency to be overcritical of some players, but all in all im starting to warm to him as a perceptive commentator. Just keep him away from womens matches *cringe*.

Also, hoping for some more Bruce-Jim-Lleyton commentary once Hewitt bows out. Really enjoy when those 3 get together.

I try to ignore the presence of Tom Williams. Hamish McLachlan atleast attempts to have a go (like Howard at Hopman Cup), but Williams is more like Gossage imo, gtfo! I imagine he'll only be used for player interview pieces away from the court.

Bruce pisses me off, as does Sandy. The Brisbane and Sydney tournaments are always quite refreshing with just Sam Smith and Woodbridge in the box because they both know what they're talking about.

I wish they'd take a hint for the AO and realise that non-expert commentators are totally superfluous for tennis.
