Hey guys, just got Foxtel and was wondering what the tennis coverage is like. Looking back at the old threads I assume the 1000 matches are on ESPN?
What about the other slams, women's matches and the 500 and 250's? Also non Australian Davis Cup matches.
Cheers.
Aus Open - Live coverage of Days 1-8 outside of RLA. Replays of everything else late at night.
French Open - Exclusive Live coverage of the whole tournament. Although they just use the world feed (which is one of the laizest productions around, if you thought seven was bad, this is worse).
Wimby - Send their own team for live coverage up till the quarterfinals on whatever Seven is not showing. Does have 2 exclusive quarterfinals for the men's and women's. shows replay so of semis and final.
US open - Sends their own team and has exclusive live coverage of the whole tournament. I actually really enjoy thier US Open coverage.
Masters 1000 - All live on ESPN (or ESPN2 if it cashes with something) and they show coverage all week. Use the good world feed and have tended to show Aussie matches if they are on an outside court when that happens on a rare occassion
500 events - QF's onwards are live on ESPN
250 events - Really depends on the event, if they are shown it will be shown on Fox Sports and usually from the QF onwards. Tournaments like San Jose, Munich, Halle, Newport, Stockholm were shown but there were a few missing but the only really noticeable one is Queen's. Really have to check your guides on this one. Eurosport has occasionally shown men 250 events as well such as Eastbourne and Auckland
Women's Premier events - This has been an issue for tennis fans for the last few months as Eurosport did show them last year and mainly from the start of the event. But now it seems they have dropped their coverage. At the moment it loosk like that Fox Sports will only show the semis and final of certain WTA premeir events. For example, doesn't look they are showing Paris indoors the week after AO but they will be showing Doha from Feb 17-18. So check gudies on what they show but it doesn't look like a whole lot.
Davis Cup ties - They tend to show one tie a DC week either live or slightly delayed. Usually one of the better ties of the weekend. They have live coverage of the final.
