I think this year's spot for that is reserved for Stepanek/Kvitova.

Ryan Phelan, host of C7 coverage this week:

"Sam Stosur, 2 time grand slam champion, winning the US and French Open."

Also said Mladenovic was serving fantastic with 11 aces. Next sentence mentions her 13 DFs.

Honestly, is it that hard to find people who are really knowledgeable?

Probably not as bad as the time Jo Griggs called Safina a 3-time slam champion. Seriously, they're virtually all useless. There should be the no commentary option, especially as they often have conflicts of interest.

Speaking of Jo she is back hosting the night sessions this year!

The focus on the love interests in tennis on this years C7 coverage is driving me nuts.

Did anyone know that Dmitrov is dating Sharapova? I mean, I don't think we are told this every single bloody time Dmitrov or Sharapova are playing, warming up, at some event.

Just stay with the Sydney International, none of this Kooyong rubbish. Whenever they put Kooyong on i'm barracking for whoever is up a set just so they take it off, obviously there are some good players there but I can't stand the exhibition events.

I hope they don't shove Redfoo down our throats this year

If I have to see that talentless ****ing w***er more then the actual tennis again this year, words can't describe the anger I will have:mad:

All my likes, was a bit nauseating too when they were talking about Thompson's effort against Gasquet as the heralding in of a new era of Aussie tennis dominance.

What bugs me in general about all the AO lead up events is that so many people pull out or forfeit because they have broken a fingernail or something. I understand why they do it - they want to be fully fit for the AO - but it makes a bit of a mockery of the other events.

I know what you mean about Kooyong. I went today because we get free tickets but the match I enjoyed the most was the one with Jordan Thompson because it seemed like it really meant something to him and he was going flat out to try and win. Some of the others just look like they are going through the motions.

Aust Open live draw:

Bruce forced to ask stupid, cringy questions relating to X-Factor

FFS ch7 don't force your key host to ask the reigning champion Azarenka stupid unrelated tennis questions just to plug your own network's lame reality show cross promotion

Hamish is going to be even more unbearable than usual this year, really found his niche as a quasi-Caroline Wilson of the tennis world. Doesn't know shit about the game so will focus solely on Syds like Redfoo and fashion.

agree

I'm actually really annoyed that Fox Sports don't have viewers choice for the Aussie Open this year. C'MON FFS!!! They have cameras set up at various courts at Melbourne Park, ****ing show them!! Stop being so cheap!!!

Also 7's switching from match to match is pathetic. I was watching the Kyrgios match today and the match was in it's final few sets and they ****ing switch to the Del Porto game that hadn't even ****ing started yet.

Out of all the things they do I don't think switching from a match from a glorified exhibition to an actual tournament is a bad thing at all.

The point is that they've got the rights to three tournaments, and despite the fact that they have multiple channels, they flick between matches on one while showing movies from the 1960s and shows like Xena on the others. There's no need for them to flick between the matches, whether you're interested in the match they're flicking to/from or not.

Hamish is a long way from being the worst commentator at 7. I'd rather they got rid of BT and some of the others before Hamish.

Yeah, nah. He has no idea whatsoever about any of the sports he has ever "commentated", it's why he always prefers to focus on the off-field tabloid aspect.

He also has the most unbearably smug shit-eating grin in the country. Is where he is solely due to his brother's influence, a talentless cretin symbolic of the dire standards of commentary in Australian sport.
