APL Australian Poker League

Just wondering what the APL is like, is it a good starting point or is it just a waste of time, can you make money out of their tournaments
jsut a general point of view from some of the poker stars on this site.

APL is a cheap way to get into poker. I live in WA, and by the local legislation they cant give away prizes based on skill. Instead, the have random prize draws etc... The state championships was last weekend which cost $10 to play, with a seat at the Tournament of Champions at stake, which is a tournament you play to get into, rather then buy into.

Go there to learn the game, but if you want to go there thinking you can play for cash, but at a lesser risk factor then the casino, then play online on a small table.

Off topic, I think its NPL, but I was as at pub where they play it on Tuesday, and boy there were some massive arguements, FFS it's meant to be fun.

Could be useful for someone to sticky this somehow, as with the freerolls, we'll no doubt be getting a lot more traffic, and new users to the board.
