Apologies to Freo for many reasons:

For writing off their season (even though I still don't believe they can make the eight).

For rubbishing CC at every opportunity.

For rubbishing the club & majority of players, at every opportunity.

For dredging up their woeful history.

Observations from the weekend:

KPP - are the best in the league, to be feared at all times. When the midfield catchs up to the talent of the KPP, watch out.

Skills are still woeful at times.

J.Carr - a flop in my opinion, some of the youngsters are putting in more than he does.

Youngsters - The injury crisis has been a blessing in disguise, has fast-tracked the development of quite a few youngsters.

That is all.

When Freo's midfield were receiving J'Lo and Sandilands' taps, J. Carr was in the middle receiving them. When they tapered off and let Carlton get the edge, he was usually around half-back.

The most revolutionary thing CC did this week was play both Pavlich and McPharlin as forwards. Which should happen every week.

I hope Polak comes back and makes an impact. We need a decent CHB which is why I like McPharlin there.

Its been happening for the last three or four.
Indeed. I mean to say that its not very revolutionary.

Pav pushing into the centre square was new too this week (though it was flirted with last week, he definately was in there more this week) which was a hird-esque move. I liked it. I still maintain the spine should be

Polak
Pav
Hase
McPhalin
Parker

Polak is too slow for CHB.

The commentators were saying that Pav moved there on his own accord when Carlton started to gain a bit of momentum in the midfield. If so, then yes it was very Hird-esque.

My main observation for the weekend was that J. Carr wasn't bad. Prior to this week I might have agreed that he was a flop, or at least under-performing, but I was very comfortable with how he played this week.

Schofield on the other hand ...

Other than that, I can agree with what Reason has had to say.

Pav is sensational. Would be nice to see some of his team mates putting in to the same level, week in week out. The man's a machine!

Agree.

J. Carr is slowly getting into the correct gears and is heading in the right direction.

Schofield is heading for a premiership at Subiaco .....

Bit unfair. Schammer to the backline was a conscious decision which has paid off in the last two weeks.

You mean in how he's picked up cheap possession entirely from other players, as opposed to actual ball-winning? Can't say I'm impressed with Schammer's new role.

He and Black have been giving us great run and drive from the HBF. You can't always be at the bottom of the pack mate.

Just like Wirrpunda, Wanganeen and Aussie Jones?

I'll give you Wirrpunda and Aussie Jones. Wanganeen doesn't belong there though. Try Bishop, Schofield of 2004, Cochrane or possibly Walsh for Port equivalents.

Its a waste of Schammer talent though.

Once smaller defenders such as Walker and Hayden come into the team they will provide the run from the backline that we need... Schammer will then be moved back into a midfield role

I still reckon your Big Croat lies awake at night fantasizing about being serviced by the West Coast midfield.

So to speak.

Problem is your midfield is too quick and finishes the job in record time. Ours on the other hand is slow and steady (though height does pose some problems). :D ;)

You would need to swap half your midfield to get him though :)

What forward wouldnt.
I am sure you forwards stay awake at night having nightmares about being "found out", if they had to recieve the ball from ANY other midfield. :D

Carr had a poor game? 31 possesions.

Fremantle's Skills are equal to any in the league. Players like Pavlich, Haselby, Black, Schammer use the ball as well as any

Bell should have a few more weeks off. He is too slow and does not fit into the midfield.

Headland is not needed in the middle, best off to use his mostly good finishing forward.

McPharlin FF
Medhurst
Pavlich
Headland
Polak CHF

that is the order that they have been playing. Looks balanced.
