Hawthorn has the worst AFL list and is a shoe in to finish last this year.
Add to that their injuries, and the Hawks posters here will be spending alot of time on the drafting and trading forum throughout the year.

Who you gonna take?
Any decent player wants to play in a flag, and there isn't a flag in Hawthorn's future for a decade.
But I guess you did get Hartigan....
Now that we have taken the emotion and pride out of it, how do you rate your teams list?
On top of that your injury and walk outs of Scully and Patton, and the aging of your old guard, together does not make it a healthy list.
Hey, if you want a year to bottom out and go to the draft, this year is a good one.

Hawthorn’s list is now the 8th oldest in terms of average age. Take Burgoyne off the Hawks list and it drops down to 12th.

Scully and Patton leaving has only helped us. Has forced our hand to focus on the young talent we actually do have.

We currently have an underrated mix of senior players and youth, as well as multiple All Australians, a rising star, Brownlow medalist and multiple triple premiership players.

The youth injection over the past 18 months will create far more anticipation for the Hawks future than people outside the club realise. This year will be an exciting one if our two pre-season games are any indication.

We'll continue being excited by what we've seen from Day, Brockman, Kosi, Worpel, Jiath, Moore, Greaves, Scrimshaw to name a few and you just worry about Macasey and Fogarty missing selection for the wooden spooners.

The problem for Hawthorn was both Tom Mitchell and Jaeger O'Meara wanted to come to the club in the same year. The O'Meara set Hawthorn back two years in the draft. O'meara is a good player but not a great player.

Carlton made the same sort of mistakes 20 years earlier and they still haven't recovered for it.
