I'm curious to know what you mean by "on the piss"? The tone of the post suggests he was shit faced with Maxwell. Or were they just having a social drink? Two very different scenarios. I find it hard to believe he was getting legless with Maxwell of all people.

Hey whiskeytown was Wells drunk or just having a social bevvy?

Hey whiskeytown was Wells drunk or just having a social bevvy?

It was a large group on a Xmas pub crawl and some were naturally reasonably intoxicated. Wells... and FWIW Maxwell weren't by appearances. My frustration is not that Wells has a drink in his hand but...

- i've seen him with one in his hand multiple times over the last month

- He's had several months on the injury sideline to live it up. And other senior players in Dunn, Mayne, Pendles are back in training earlier than expected.. showing desperation. Is Wells as desperate?

- and if he's still allowed to indulge... it suggests he is probably injured again. To that extent we haven't seen much movement from him on the track in Apples training reports... meaning he is set for another interrupted preseason.

- I am still frustrated by the contract we offered him.

Finally... for those upset about the scrutiny on Wells. How would they feel if they went to a 4-5 star resort and were given cornflakes for breakfast? Because that's all we've gotten from the Wells deal so far... for the money we are paying we deserve more.

(Mods move this to the Wells thread if you like)

Censorship?
Can I please have back the hundreds of posts of mine that have been deleted for being off topic? I don’t recall ever posting BS rumours either.

Pablo’s post has no business being in this thread and you know it.
How about we change the post to " Saw Maxwell mentoring Wells on leadership and culture" and see if you still think it's bs and off topic?

It's a slippery slope to jump straight into censorship of everything that doesn't fit your mould of quality. If you don't like the comment, try challenging the view before going North Korea on it.
I can't agree with this view. I have been a follower of Apples' reports since I discovered them on Nicks, and have liked these threads because they were focussed on what is actually happening at training. The contributors who want to be involved in slanging matches with one another about player attitudes just don't add anything to these threads. There are plenty of others that cater for that sort of thing. Moderating them out of this and into the ones that suit their tastes would be extremely difficult, and probably not possible, but they do detract from the pleasure of reading Apples reports and the informative responses that the kindred spirits bring here.

To be fair, Greece is FULL of Pom tourists. All the time. At one stage back in August we went to a Water park where there were more Poms than Greeks. It was staggering
It’s kind of a fait accompli when it costs them about $50 to get there and everything is dirt cheap.

Come on mate, it's a pretty simple fix to move the Wells drinking comments into, you know, the Daniel Wells thread.
When a topic veers off course for an extended period of time, then we look at moving them to a more suitable thread, which is what will likely occur here if this talk doesn't self correct in due course. Everyone here is guilty of straying off the thread topic from time to time.

We're happy to attend to polite requests for a tidy up. Demands to make posters "accountable" because someone doesn't like one particular off topic comment is another story.

You may have missed it but I did say please.

Do you know why beams is on a modified program? is purely a management program for his body to avoid overload injuries?
I don't know mate. He was doing run throughs with Howe (shoulder) and Aish. Didn't seem particularly hampered, but he has an injury history, so it wouldn't surprise to see him nursed through. He was clearly feeling the temperature though with volume of running he was doing. He is very solid through the hips and thighs. A low centre of gravity these days.

As a compromise to all, the last few pages containing discussion about Wells fitness, drinking habits etc will remain. However, from here any further discussion about Wells (bar him actually being spotted at a training session) needs to be posted in the Wells thread. As standard, any personal shots at fellow posters will not be tolerated.

Wonder if the veterans are allowed to take it easier. Obviously Pendles goes at it with intensity, but older guys with an injury profile may need to be treated differently.

It seems pretty logical to me that if Nick Maxwell is having a drink with Wellsy, then all is OK. Nick wouldn't do anything to bring any player of the club into disrepute or to shine an unnecessary spotlight. Who knows what Wellsy was drinking anyway; it could be my new Christmas party drink Heineken 0.0 :)

Howe is recovering form shoulder surgery so he is restricted to running for the time being. I suspect Beams and Aish too, but I don't know what they are afflicted with/recovering from. Guys like Varcoe are older than Beams, were running around in the full training last week and are spending Saturday mornings doing extra sessions at my son's gym doing Boxing too so it is horses for courses.
