although a prediction of no handballs for round 1 is a valid one, statements about the past such as yours are easily proved to be inaccurate. Fasolo had 73 handballs last year, and 86 the year before.

i'd like to know how many 1percenters for the team in round 1 please because i think thats an important stat

well you didnt mention the goals. that makes quite a difference.... so that probably indicates that Fas will be kicking 40 or so goals this year....maybe more....i suppose it's about time really. he's kicked the high twenties a couple of time, so 2017 will be a significant improvement

He had 21 goals by the end of round 9 last year so if he stays fit should exceed 40 for the season. Of course it also depends on his attitude...

I thought that was just a given for fazzy boy But yes to what J mac said. If we can get 20 games of Fas up forward he should hit the 40 goal mark. Having Elliott in the side will help his cause.

Was never going to be senior ready at the start of the 2017 season and as far as I'm aware the 1st VFL practice match is this weekend so he hardly had an opportunity to show us anything yet, but don't let that stop you turning it into a negative.

Training Report No.5: April 13, 2017

Conditions: Early fog then sunny. No breeze. Perfect conditions for training.

Not Training: 0

Limited Training: Ben Sinclair, Tom Langdon. Both ran/walked laps after appearing late.

New injuries: Ben Crocker asked the physio for some attention during a break in match play. Appeared to be his right leg. Stretching took place, then he walked over to speak with Bill Davoren on the sidelines. He was pointing to the back side of his right knee. He then left the field and Davoren walked over to tell Bucks who was busy with the magnetic board.
This is the healthiest list I’ve seen since I returned home in 2011. Buckley must be touching wood. It also applies the pressure though. Buckley’s coaching over the last 5 seasons could never really be assessed in my opinion, due to the shocking injury toll to key players. At last he gets clean air. There can be no more excuses.
Player Watch:
Jamie Elliott – did everything one could ask today. Expectations were high after last week’s VFL game and Jamie ticked all the boxes. Bucks may wait another week, but he’s ready.
Matty Sharenberg – did well in match simulation today. Very clean by hand and foot. Played back mostly, but late in the session was seen standing alongside Lyndon Dunn and appeared to be playing forward. Not far off.
Daniel Wells – trained well. Was pleased to see him sprinting at full pace early. A few good games in the VFL should see him pressing for selection.
Jordan De Goey – fully recovered. Trained strongly. Will play VFL this week.
Rupert Wills – progressing well. Looked good last week in the VFL match. Will need a month in the VFL I’d reckon. I’d love to see him back at AFL level.
Henry Shade – impressed today in match simulation. Uses the ball so well. A lovely accurate kick.
Josh Daicos – so impressive when involved in play. Very smooth. Will be developing his defensive game in the VFL.
Kale Kirby – has lost a lot of weight. Did some work in the middle today. Very strong through the hips and has strength over the ball. Is working with great enthusiasm. Fantastic to see this improvement.

Ruck drills: various players worked with Rocca today in tap work drills. Grundy, Cox, Keeffe, White and Moore all had turns at palming the ball to the waiting Treloar and Pendlebury.
Match Play: A few of the match-ups
Benton Sanderson ran the match play. Taylor Adams was everywhere. Ran the ball out of the middle as if the ball was on a string. Was opposed to De Goey and beat him pointless.
Pendles played mostly at half forward and was picked up by Lyndon Dunn.
Shade stood alongside Keeffe. Goldsack took Mitch McCarthey. Wills played on Varcoe.

Now the players meet in the middle and listen to Bucks. A group break away and are spoken to by Bill Davoren on the boundary. They are: Daicos, Brown, Wills, Lynch, McCarthey, Wells, McLarty, De Goey, Oxley, Thomas, Mackie and Kirby. These players then exit the arena.

Now the senior players do some match simulation with Bucks supervising. Smith V Broomhead, Dunn v Sharenberg, Sidey V Treloar, Grundy V Cox, Shade v White, Goldsack V Moore, Crisp V Pendles,
Greenwood v Maynard, Howe V Faz.

Mayne stayed on the track after many left; including Elliott. Somebody near me commented that he thought Bucks might give him one more week. Surely not?

Conclusion: What a day to be at training! I have to say I love getting here early and having a good coffee. The bacon and eggs went down a treat, as the fog lifted and the sun peeked through just as the players were appearing at 10am. Elliott did enough in my book to be selected. Mayne trained very well and may survive yet. Adams was outstanding as were Howe and Treloar. Again, Dunn impresses with his vocal encouragement and outstanding kicking skills. Looks like Wills, Dunn, Wells, Sharenberg and De Goey will be pushing hard for selection over the next 2-3 weeks.

Cheers for the excellent report Neil. Only part I didn't like was the bit about Mayne getting another game. He should be replaced with Elliott immediately and only recalled if half our forward line is injured, which will hopefully be never!
