Wrong. Soups declared it was frozen custard.Yes.

It could be that, like Jesus and Moses, you're above wordly possessions.Well the rule has exceptions even in Fowler's and more recently in the hit best seller, 'Eats, Shoots & Leaves'.
Jesus and Moses sound very odd if 'apostrophe s' is added for the possessive and so it is always Jesus' disciples and Moses' miracle.
You may be correct in suggesting a phonetic reasoning. For example, Jesus, Moses and Apples, all become a hard z sound which is a little odd......Jezuzez, Mozezez, Applezez.

It did sound like bollocks.Soups was wrong.

Yeah about that...That's it for cooking and grammar. Let's cross over to Jen's thread for some training updates![]()
I'm not sure if it was in this thread or over in Jen's new foodie thread (thanks sr36), but a poster nominated Tom Wilson as being Best 22 in 2020.
I know there is precedent with players bursting their way into the team (Stephenson), but Wilson is a tall, skinny type with much development needed in my opinion. I had a look at him on Monday and he moves well and appears to be pretty good on both sides of his body. From the limited time I watched, appears to be a tidy kick. He has a good reputation and a full pre season should give us an inkling of what he might do. He really is quite slight, although when he removed his guernsey he looked to have bulked up a bit. I reckon a full season in the VFL is the most likely outcome. For 2020, Cameron is far more likely as a regular in the team.

Can I please apologise to this thread for correcting the use of word gelatis to gelati and for suggesting the poster calls spaghetti Bolognese noodles with tomato sauce. If I had just shut up, this thread would be 3 pages shorter.
Sorry to all.
It's simple really. I always teach students to write it as you say it.
James's dog. Ross's car. Apples's training thread. Add an apostrophe to my name, which is Apples and we get Apples's. The rule remains constant. It does sound a little odd, but for the sake of consistency, it's the rule I follow and the rule endorsed by the English Teachers' bible, Fowler's Modern English Usage. I suppose Mukesh's suggestion would solve any arguments![]()

Yeah get the players to read the training threads and the constantly boring discussion of inane food posts will send them to la la land and they won't be able to train. Are they training injury prevention techniques or do we need another petition?

EFAReading that insinuation against my character, caused me to spit out a bite of my steak sandwich.
I am not the foodie derailer. We have a signed confession and apology from none other than Gabbo64:
Yep, it was me. But please update quote to 10 pages shorter and counting!!Reading that insinuation against my character, caused me to spit out a bite of my sandwich - a sliced, medium-rare porterhouse, sitting resplendently on a bed of caramelised onions and oven roasted peppers, topped with a medley of seasonal lettuces and housed within two slices of rustically cut, lightly toasted sourdough which was purchased this morning, whilst still warm, from my favourite little boulangerie.

Come on, spread it to the edges man!!!
