Who will be the strongest team this year? Will Wesley have another good year or will Caulfield step up? How will Haileybury go? Will it be another poor season like last year?

At this stage it looks like there are going to be about 7 schools who will be up in contention.
Xavier have traditionally been the best team for this yr 12's yr level for footy, but the playing fields level now.
Caulfield and GGS have brought in a lot of new star recruits which puts them up at the top. But team chemistry will be questionable.
Wesley will be coming off last yrs premiership with still a good team, and will definatley be up in contention as well.
As said, Xavier will be looking to rebound after a couple of years in the offing.
Melbourne will be a team that many may underrate but have some big units and have a talented team.
Skc don't possess much for yr 12 except a good team chemistry, but they have some good yr 11's who shall push them in contention for the flag aswell.
Geelong College also share a good team chemistry, and have a mixture of some star players for vic country.

Overall should be a good season.

Watch out for Cyril Rioli's cousin Will playing for Xavier this year, year 10 kid, will rip it up

What about Carey - they have a very strong yr11 list that includes plenty of TAC players including Viney, HoRvat, Haynes to name a few

How many TAC Cup players from each school are there this yr?

I know Xavier have something around 9 players playing TAC this yr, and St. Kevin's about 8.

Whats the count for Wesley, Caulfield, Geelong and Melbourne?

i can tell you right now that xavier this year will be no good, they will rely too heavily on their gun tim golds who i hear is with west sydney..
i think the last 4 you mentioned will be there abouts..

Expect big things from the Carey boys. A lot of talent down there, predominantly in Year 11, but also a solid Year 12 group.

Im a xavier boy myself and i drove past Brighton Grammar training last night and i must say they looked very impressive. I would not count them out this year.

Who played who in praccy games on the w/e and who's playing who this w/e?
Skevs played melbourne last week and have got brighton this week.

Carey Grammar should push in the next two seasons - have a very exciting list - Simon Harris, Nathan Hrovat, Luca Celebicanin, Darcy Moore, Matthew Haynes, Kristian Jaksch, James Shaw - just to name a few

EDIT: forgot Jack Viney as well

IMO it will come down to the teams that battled it out in last years final.

From what I have heard, Wes have about 10-11 U18 TAC cup players (3-4 participating in something to do with AIS) and 3-4 U16 TAC squad members, with also a few names not making TAC cup teams such as Dougherty, Pool and O'Brien (who is doing the 'development squad' for Oakleigh).

Caulfield - from what has already been said in this thread have a bit of depth and this year it'll come down to these two teams.

Skevs - shame to hear from someone playing for them that they will have a 'poo' team this year (direct quote), a few players playing TAC - Hunter, Matheson both very good young players. Hopefully they can get their act together and put up a fight.

Skevs have a bout 8-9 Tac players actually, but the thing is, they don't have a talented yr 12 yr level as they've had in the past 2 years. Their yr 11's are the best however.

I also wouldn't ignore Xavier. IMO, they will push for the premiership strongly aswell.

Has anyone heard of any results for the practice matches that were to be played over the holidays?

Has anyone heard of any results for the practice matches that were to be played over the holidays?

I heard Wesley had a practice match aganist Trinity College from Perth, and WC had around 7 TAC/AIS players out and managed to beat them by aroud 30 odd points. Not sure if this is true though...

Yes, im pretty sure that's what he said paulie, tell your mates ronny and snooki i said hi.
What were the results from yesterdays practice matches?

I am a hailebury old boy, i currently live in brighton with my partner. I have seen them training and they look quite skillful with a very tight team bond. But will they be able to beat the like of wesley, xavier, geelong college? They have geelong college round 1 at their ground and i will be there because i think it will be a great game. Although Brighton will be the underdogs of the APS i dont think anyone can wipe them out yet. I watched them against hailebury last weekend in a practice game and they showed plenty in the last qtr. There was a dane swan-like onballer in the last qtr from Brighton but i think he usually plays up fwd or down back im not too sure. I watched many games last year and they deserve the underdog status. But, Hawthorn were the underdogs in 08'!

I couldnt agree more with what your saying here magpies. I would love to find out who this Dane Swan like onballer you speak of is. As for you Paulie, the answer is simple. You stop being a tool, open your eyes, look past your bias side for as i said im a xavier boy myself, and observe that a team has a great chemistry and look good on the park. However i do apologise for saying i was driving past. I should have been clearer in saying that i got out and had a look.

Scotch will also be up in the ranks this season, a strong bunch of year 10's and 11's. Don't know about their year 12 bunch though.

Based on numbers in TAC/AIS/Vic Metro, it looks like Wesley and Carey shall be battling it out.

Who plays who this saturday?

I know Xavs play Wesley (amazing amount of shit talking going on the fb event page ha)

And Skevs play Carey. Should be 2 big games.

What are the other match ups?
