ARC rule- get rid of it

I'm still confused how ARC intervenes sometimes and not other times. Last week Evans handballed the ball off the shin of Darling and North get a lasoo free because the umpire didn't see it come off Darling. No ARC intervention. Today they even brought the ball back to let ARC make a decision. The rule is terrible and if ARC is going to intervene it needs to be allowed to every time or none at all.

Or just give teams one challenge a game (you keep it if you're right ) instead of letting the umpires pick and choose when to review things

It's hard ot overstate the sheer idiocy of now having a video refereee interfere in the game in relation to only one rule, and for that to only occur in order to punish a puerile non-event that should never be a free kick, like a ball accidentally bouncing off a shin.
It is actually beyond belief

I don’t really like the spirit of the number last disposal, but that is a separate argument to the ARC

If the free is there, why shouldn’t they intervene

I kinda get the commentary about what we do/don’t go to video evidence.

A goal - we review.
A lasso - we review
Out of bounds inside 50 - do we review? I didn’t think we did but sure seemed like umpires got word on the ANB reversal
Free kick directly in front of goal - don’t review

Like what’s the right direction here? I think we all want correct decisions but at the moment it’s a little silly where review matters sometimes but not others.

The lasso rule isn’t working. If they’re going to pay it, just pay it for the super obvious clear kicks (I.e. make a much, much stricter insufficient intent). No review just clear player a kicked it and it went out of bounds. Get rid of the review for that. Do we really need slow motion replays of two players running for the ball just to see a small deflection that didn’t impact direction of the ball anyway?

Just leave reviews to goal line decisions or potentially touched kicks that result in a goal.

I don't get why we need to review mostly inconsequential boundary line shit when we're still happy for umpires to **** up holding the ball or incorrect disposal decisions 50% of the time.

Unless it directly affects the score leave it alone.

If it reverses a free kick, then it’s not really inconsequential , is it?

free kicks which result in a shot on goal should always be reviewed IMO

You’re upset that the umpires paid a free kick when Carlton players broke the rules
I was upset watching from home and I dont like Carlton. If the umpire didn't see it because it wasnt obvious than throw the ball in like we've done for 100 years.
Regarding the lasso rule it has to be last disposal not last touch and again if the umpire has no idea who had the last disposal than throw the ball in.
We dont need video referee BS for boundary decisions. The ARC is bad enough for goal decisions let alone getting them more involved in the game.

Except that the arc worked as intended.

Once it seems people are upset about the lasso rule, and fair enough but you’re using that to complain about the ARC.
