I thought it was a pretty encouraging performance from him but I would be interested to see how he goes in the ruck contest against an actual ruckman. Still his work around the ground was much better than I was expecting. Will be interesting to see how he goes in a few more games and whether he starts to back himself to kick the ball when he gets a mark or free kick. Can understand him playing within his limitations first game in that regard but teams will quickly work that out if he's always looking for the dish off handball.

The thing I really like about Archie is that some of us were uncertain if he should even get his rookie extended, but obviously he has a place in AFL. Bloody good on him!

He was jumping far too early at the beginning of the game but seemed to find better rhythm as it progressed
I only say that because it has been an on going issue with him, but he does have some springs.

Yeah, it's always noticeable with Archie, he takes a few tries to get his timing right. When he gets it though he's pretty good for his age though, and that leap!

what happens with team selection this week. i honestly can't see us playing archie and stef in the same side, both very ordinary up front. we don't want to go in too big and cumbersome against the crows or it could be a 140-170 point loss instead of the inevitable 80-110 point loss.

Really liked his follow up efforts after the ruck contests. Is looking to be involved and i think he had an impact doing so. His leap will worry some rucks, very nicnat like. He took a really nice mark early in the game as well. The benefit of seeing it live, you could see where the ball was going to drop, and it was his since it left the boot. He timed his run and his jumper perfectly, which is really encouraging as well. Think i said to my dad at half time he just earnt himself a new contract from 1/2 a game.

Think he is a player that will benefit from a slow burn. Still needs to learn a lot and add more to his game, but not having the pressure on him to either be the #1 ruck or be delisted will help. Hopefully he can keep developing mostly through the ressies, play a handful of games in the coming years and allow the club the perhaps give Martin a few more rest rounds to keep him fresh.

No doubt you meant "Stef" but anyway it's not a bad idea.

Time to think outside the square....Stef roving Archie's taps would be fun to watch.
It's an interesting concept, he would certainly be a big body in the stoppages and has a good tank. Dont know if his hands are clean enough though, but worth a go.

If Adelaide rest up players, we may as well give it a go. If we can somehow dominate in clearances, we could...ah **** it, we won't win, but it'll be fun to watch! :P

He did it last year or year before, for a while with Leuey. Tapping out rather than down gives a second bite at the cherry and he was able to get it on the boot for a quick clearance forward.
