This season after the last 4 is an absolute pass for us, especially if Sydney win it all.
Not sure what you're attempting to do here OP?
Maybe you're a bit lost.

The match yesterday doesn't take away from the season Essendon had, which was a building one, nothing more, nothing less.

Sydney would have belted anyone yesterday, there last 3 matches were wins by 46(Geelong), 103(Fremantle), 81(Carlton) and before that an away win against Adelaide, they are clearly better than a 6th placed team.

We've been the underdog in all of our finals. It'd be nice to win one, but we're hardly Richmond losing a final to 9th. We had a good season regardless.

Still confident we will win a flag within the next 2 years.
You're my favourite poster I want you to know that

Essendon are nothing like Richmond. They're media darlings right now. Completely immune from criticism. Everyone is praising them for going from wooden spoon to now 8th.

Richmond finally shook their finals choker tag on Friday night.

Have Essendon now taken that unwelcome title?

Just like pre Friday night Richmond, the Bombers have lost their last three finals appearances, all of the Elimination Finals.

And just as key Richmond players like Trent Cotchin came under heavy scrutiny for poor September efforts, yesterday afternoon again saw Essendon leaders like Watson and Heppell go missing.

What can the Bombers do to regain their September mojo?

Nah, Richmond are adorable in their failures, Essendon not so much.

We are one of if not the softest team in the league, how many Essendon players are willing to go back with the flight of the ball to take a mark or make a spoil? who puts their head over the pill 100% of the time? how many want to play that real tight and tough contested game like Sydney? who is willing to hurt the opposition players?

Heppell, Zaka, Fantasia, Colyer, Langford, Goddard, Bellchambers:eek: I'm gonna stop before I get crucified.

Sadly our toughest players are the youngsters like McGrath, Francis, Begley, Parish ect
compared to teams like Sydney and Melbourne we are weak as piss.

Totally agree. WE need a heap more grunt and thump from our backs and mids. Having a coach that was one of hardest and toughest defenders ever, I'm not sure he's going about it thr old-fashioned way.

Yes, after getting 8 battle hardened, half decent, medically optimised recruits back on the team - and a number 1 pick. Who would have guessed they'd jump so high up the ladder. I read a headline on AFL.COM.AU a few days ago about Essendon settling on compensation for their 30+ players impacted by the "Supplements Saga" (their choice of words not mine). People would laugh if the UCI started publishing articles about the "Lance Vitamin Dilemma" or the IAAF created a press release back in the day announcing a finding on the "Ben Johnson Supplement Snafu". Don't remember such mealy-mouthed phrases being used when Carlton brought down the wrath of the AFL, and I wouldn't expect Richmond to get the kid gloves treatment either. If it was Essendon instead of Carlton we would have been hearing about the "Salary Cap Confusion Crisis", and their journey through the process would be painted as a story of self discovery, and the transformation of boys into men rather than a sordid and shameful cheating attempt.

Bombers had a great year and excellent response to the saga. It's only been 4 or so years since they have won a final so Im not sure what the big deal is.

2004 was the last time we won a final. Yeah they did well to make finals this year but they are only making up the numbers. I hope the club isn't content with that.

They need to make sure they don't over rate the list and end up mid table for the next 10 yrs.
True. I'm not sure if I'm being harsh because they have just gotten over the saga. I don't think we are capable of finishing higher next year. The list needs some bulls in the middle.

On a serious note, this is why I think the kid gloves the media uses when talking about Essendon this year is unhelpful.

When Richmond lost finals, it was the end of the world. All hell broke loose.

When Essendon gets humiliated, the narrative is oh well done on a fantastic turnaround better luck next year.

There's no (public) shadenfruede by the media towards Essendon.
