Are large monetary contracts disincentivizing players to play their best footy?

Agree with this.

I am an unabashed Kyrgios fan. In an era of brilliant robots who have no personality (Federer, Nadal) and narcissistic pricks like the truly horrible Djokovic and overrated Zverev guys like Kyrgios and Andy Murray are a breath of fresh air.

How does Kyrgios not fall under the narcissistic prick banner..

I do think this occurs for some players.

But there are plenty of competitive people in AFL who can't stand losing at all. At anything. Guys like Voss, Hodge, Selwood etc, their internal motivation is competiveness and desire to win, not $$$. Some players are going to be different, yes, but I certainly think some of those guys are just unfortunate to have injuries or poor teams after their big contract and made to look like they chased the $$$.

What’s happened to him? Completely forgot about him.

Apparently recovered from his injury but the body isn’t ready for AFL.

I guess he’s not young and the limited opportunities with no seconds league footy means we won’t see him this year and perhaps never again.

I’m not a big Watts fan but wish him well and to get back on the park.
