Chasing every F/A and uncontracted player available, OK list but nothing to write home about - Are they worried bottoming out is going to put them in a precarious position going forward?

Currently in no man's land as a club, and certainly not an attractive destination.

Who have they targeted, Martin and Kelly? Fair enough to go after them

I wouldn't listen to half the rumours, heck Carlton is linked to every player looking for a trade each year.

This.

NMFC has consistently failed to develop their talent and is paying the price. I reckon Majak Daw's development at many other clubs would be far ahead of where he is now.

In chasing free agents they have reprised their hollow cheque book recruitment of the 1970s. Unfortunately for them they have the destination appeal of a cheap one way ticket to Iraq.

i reckon their list look shit
They've got some decent defenders, an OK midfield and a pretty barren forwardline, with Brown the only A-grader up there.

They'd benefit from adding more elite young talent.

Yeah, in hindsight they should have done it quietly. That way the disappointment is easier to manage
Well not only that it does a lot of damage to their reputation as a club. They can't even lure players to their club whilst paying like 200-300K over the 'market price'. Any player they go after now will know that they're desperate and will extort them to the max.

They need to throw $1.2 million a year at someone like a Chris Mayne or Daisy Thomas to help their rebuild.
You are in deep trouble Harolad. There are two boom recruits well ahead of Mayne and Thomas who would both be too expensive.

Your own Chris Scott is resigned at losing Motlop on $2.0m 3 year deal to North.

You are also at risk of being stampeded by the Horse who is furious that North is circling Tippett.

Kelly would have been a great addition for the rebuild.

Martin would have been too if the contract was front loaded.

It is odd that they're having bris levels of trouble trying to lure anyone.
Brisbane are starting to get the balance right with their academy plus looking to draft Vic Country kids, who don't have the same determination to get back to Victoria.

North are a bottom 4 team, currently the least attractive Victorian club and only just beginning a rebuild.

As somewhat said, theres nothing wrong with going after Kelly and Martin, either would be huge helps to their future.
Always unlikely to get them though and will likely be forced down the usual draft path.
