Today there was a Coaches Forum at Telstra Dome. The only club not represented was Hawthorn.

The clubs with the strongest representation were: PA, CM, StS, GC, AC, FD, WE, NK, MD, RT,WB.

Are our coaches serious about professional development?

this is a strange development, and if there isn't "some reference" on the HFC site on Monday, I'll email the club to see if they have a reaction. I think that from AC., Viney, Hardewick thru to Russell thru to Pelchen, we are inspiringly fresh in the coach/trainer/fitness areas. But this season, (doesn't that sound great.....it's that close! ), You expect the 5 wins from 2005, plus replace the heartache of those 8 defeats (4 goals or less ), for as many victories as possible..................possible finals, who cares how brief ? Gives us the springboard for 2007/'08, and hopefully Uncle Jeff's confidence to re-contract AC and co. for those years.......... The media will not be so benevolent of our Coaching Box in 2006. I'm believing for a GF appearance in 2008, an absurd, unbelievable 17 years since our last.

Why should our club be bothered with what I see as some kind of fad!!!

Our coaches, rightfully, will do it their way ... consider the closed training sessions of late. Our guys at the helm have no need to look at other club's notions of how a team should be coached. To my mind such a coaches' forum is a load of BS which is surrounding our game at the moment. Who cares?

Sydney won the premiership their way notwithstanding the criticism of their style of play from one Andy Egg-on-my-face D. at AFL headquarters.

Much of what is in the media on AFL at this time of the year is a product of slow news weeks about what is happening at each and most clubs.

Give us a break from a load of codswallop.

Alastair Clarkson doesn't need to sit around listening to dribble from Wallace and company, he knows exactly what needs to be done to get the Hawks up the ladder.

The only coach amongst that group of clubs mentioned who could offer something different is Neil Craig (conditioning and fitness), the rest of them are nothing new and have nothing to offer Clarko.

Gary, I was starting to worry because we hadn't heard from you for a couple of weeks but now you're back and back with a vengeance. :thumbsu:
Aw geez, Binxy ... great to be missed.

Will not be on BF for a while as I have just set up a rig to spend some time travelling around Ozz writing a travel log with pics ... will also be running a website. Heading off to Darwin next week via Cairns, Mount Isa and Kathrine. Leave my rig there at some friends and head over to Bangkok / Phuket to stay with some friends for a month. Then back down to Adelaide and Perth but will fly back to Coolie on a fairly regular basis as I have a few commitments here. Will be back on BF as soon as I have satellite internet.

Hope to work it to be in Launceston for the first round.

Keep on a surfin up there at Burleigh, Binxy.

clarkson is a fool, the sooner he's gone the better off the Hawthorn F.C will be. With all the early picks the hawks have had, clarkson is a big chance to ruin a potentially strong side.

Clarkson is no fool. He doesn't need to go through something that he has already done before when he was at port adelaide.

What a load of crap. Got any other pearls of wisdom idiot? And if you want to come on here and bag the Hawks at least have the GUTS to tell us which club it is that is unfortunate enough to win your support. What is Fassa Botolo anyway ... a laxative?

Coaches forums are for coaches like Terry Wallace who prefer to tell everyone how good he is rather than demonstrate it. Clarkson is a quiet achiever who prefers to let the team's performances do his talking for him.

Clarko has an MBA. He's probably had more than enough forums for one lifetime. One can reasonably bet that the coaching team would have discussed the forum and determined as one how their time would best be spent in February.

You can be sure that someone - one of the presenting coaches (particularly Wallace if he was the main event) or the organiser of the forum - will be taking shots at the Hawk coaching team in the media on another matter when the opportunity presents.

Also, I'm interested to know where the original info came from - there is no link to a news source. (Not to doubt the OP; but this may just be scuttlebutt.)
