Opinion Are Richmond hitting the slope?

Richmond's team has always been a bunch of largely talentless, skillless, useless pricks who got a winning culture driven into them through extreme running, pressure and knocking the ball forward at all costs. That gameplan only worked because it had a few stars to act as the circuit breaker when things weren't going their way m- Dusty, Rance, Riewoldt etc.

Now theres no Rance, last night there was no Dusty and they are beginning to be exposed for what they are. The same bottom 8 team they've been for the last decade with a conditional hunger for the ball. They're still the same bums who can't kick a footy, can't take a mark. They're still the average Asbury's of the world. The conditional Caddy's. The can't-stand-up Castagnas. The bad-news Broad's. The worst-in-the-family Rioli.

They're done. Hope you enjoyed your time in the spot-light Tiget fans because it's over.
Enjoyed it no doubt Irene. Just like you would enjoy 2 flags in three years eh?
BTW good win tonight. 4 points ainā€™t a flag but to some it feels like it.

Richmond are done. Riewoldt, Houli and Cotch look past it and Dusty can't stay fit.

Long decade ahead.
West coast are done sold the farm for fat boy Kelly

Josh Kennedy/hurn/yeo look past it and McGovern canā€™t stay fit long decade coming up

But seriously both sides look unfit and seem to be struggling most with short qtrs

Hilarious when your mob has the most spuds in the comp and are still old as * while hardly winning games enjoy paying McGovern 850k

Heā€™s on 850k?

Thatā€™s a fair bit of money to give McGovern for him to get injured in a practice match.

What happened to Pickett, Bolton, Stack, Rioli, Graham, Ross ...... all these young guns we have constantly been told about. The Tigers successful era has just begun!

I reckon their system has finally been broken and Jack, Cotchin, Houli, Edwards ...... arenā€™t getting any younger.

Bolton has been good.

Graham and Ross, who are basically the same player, slow inside mids. Yet dimma has been playing Graham on a wing and Ross off half back. Its baffling.

Stack looks complacent and Rioli just flat out lazy.

Pickett I reckon is still struggling with the tempo. Had the luxury of doing what he pleased on grand final day.

Having said all that the way we have moved the ball will make almost any player look crap. I suspect we are missing caracella more than we'd hoped.

Sounds corny but all we have heard about Richmond for the past 3 years is the amazing connection the players have on field and off field. I suspect the pandemic has impacted that severely. Also the shorter quarters dont help as we like to wear teams down.

Might not be this year but id be surprised if they dont get back to peak form next season at worst.

This is the point imo. Iā€™d be interested to see who scored the most in red time last year. Wouldnā€™t be surprised if we where top
I'm not sure about red time but we were one of the best first quarter teams in the league last year. We averaged +7.3pts inclusive of finals which led the league. Our record of 17-8 was only behind Geelong's 17-1-7.
The difference isn't so much that late game was our strength, it's more that teams can go harder earlier now and not worry so much about the end, where last year they had to be more cautious early.

Side out of form. Can't hit the side of a barn by hand or foot. We have given away more stupid ill disciplined free kicks that the rest of the comp put together. But it's early in the season and you don't lose talent overnight.
We also have a reserves side full of kids that is thumping their opponents. We got rid of all our experience players so there are some good kids coming through. Our oldest 2nd's player is 24, besides Pickett, but he'll be back.
This is a strange season. If you are going to have a premiership hangover this is the year to have it because the footy is unwatchable anyway.

Tiges look very very underdone. Still time though in this very odd year.

Do Tige fans think coaching changes have had ill effect?

Not really. We are a side that plays on touch. We move the ball like ping pong sometimes. It is hardly surprising that after a Premiership and doing your pre-season the second time running around your parents farm in the bush, there is something missing. Then you start a season in the middle of winter. Must be lovely to play up in Qld. right now. It is not like other sides are playing particularly well, the footy is an awful standard, it's just that we are more awful.
