Richmond has been a pleasant surprise this year. Traditionally they've had a terrific top 5 or 6 stars and then fallen away quickly. They seem to have developed a better second rung of talent but I think their bottom rung of players is still a real concern. Their supporters should be excited.

We're behind at least half a dozen other sides on talent (but not form). The Dogs are better than many neutrals will admit, they're 17-1 as the older team under Beveridge.

The same Richmond that lost three elimination finals in a row under the same coach is being compared to a side that won 4 finals in a row, two of which were interstate.

Not to mention Richmond's knack to lose close games this season, this is just laughable.

It makes our premiership victory sweeter now that all these sides are being compared to our 2016 season. During the pre season it was St. Kilda, now its Richmond

Not started by a Richmond poster. Good
Richmond supporters aren't allowed to be positive on this site it seems, great post OP,still more work to do,thought we were a four goal better side, first half last night but didn't put the pressure on the scoreboard.

We are Richmond, teams will come after us like bigfooty posters do,like flies on an unfortunate Tiger carcass caught in a poachers trap.

37 years without a flag but the angst if we won just a final would be enormous.

The true meltdown of fruitcake footy.

Walk with your heads high Tigers, who cares what oppos think?

U mentioned injuries not level of player worth, now Players like conca, vlastuin and Griffiths are top 18, so ATM we don't have a CHF and had to reshuffle the decks in the back half....vlastuin is a bull in the backline...
We'll do more than top 8 imho I guess between 4-6
Well I guess that's for most clubs lose one or 2 of ur best players and u could well b in trouble!
I'm enjoying my footy ATM and for flag fav I'd say gws and crows as front runners but who knows on the day anyone in the top 8 can beat anyone on any given day!
We'll revisit this in 3+ months time!
I'll concede I should have said have you had injuries to key players rather than pure quantity. Don't see you anywhere near top 4 and very unlikely top 6 but as you said we'll know in a few months time.

Reckon our bottom rung - say, Lambert, McIntosh, Short, Menadue, Castagna, Butler at the start of the year - have shown marked improvement during the season and don't think much more could be expected of them at this stage. But if you go past, say, Bontempelli/Stringer/Dahlhaus/Johannisen, the next group of Murphy, Daniel, Hunter, Macrae, Morris, M.Boyd, Picken, Liberatore, Roughead, Wallis, Wood is clearly better than our equivalent (and that of many other clubs). Then you've got players finding their way like T.Boyd, Dunkley, McLean, C.Smith who also have an impact.

Pretty unlikely that the 'next Bulldogs' are going to pop up the immediately preceding year.
Sort of rebuffs the annals when we are so willing to toy with the recherché and exemplify the unexampled.

I notice in nearly every single thread that bomber and dees supporters are always the most vocal in making sure everyone knows how lucky richmond has been with injuries, the draw and poor kicking by opposition sides and that in fact we are nowhere near top 6 material.

The Dogs did beat other finalists in Sydney, Adelaide, West Coast and North throughout the regular season last year.

I would love to see Richmond make the finals and hopefully win one. Would be surprised if they made the prelims but it's obviously a very even season so you never know.
It's noted idiot Bokonon, someone who is almost impossibly clueless about the Bulldogs because our fans hurt his feelings last year.
