Business & Finance Are sticky-taped bank notes still legal tender?

I got a sticky-taped twenty the other day torn right down the middle. Tried to use it down the pub last night and the chick wouldn't take it. What gives?

Some cheeky taxi driver refused a ripped $5 note out of a $90 taxi fare, so I asked for the money back and I would pay on eftpos.
Gives me the money and I legged it.

I think we both learnt a valuable lesson that day.

So many lines. But yes I can't see how it's not legal tender. Banks will take it from the business anyway. We turnover heaps of damaged notes at work and have never had a problem when banking....

Should be. The bank will accept bank notes if 49% is missing...

So long as you have the remnant with the serial number you have no probs.
