Hello again cats fans - well, did you watch the first ten minutes of that game - THAT is what I meant by free-flowing attacking football more suited to our team. The result - 3.1.19 to 0.0.0

My point - we are capable of playing that style of football and all we need is a team that will let us. geelong will take us in in a shootout. My prediction - Round 4 to have 30 goals + (yep, if you want to take it as 21 to you, 9 to us, go ahead, but I predict 15 or more to each side)

Not worried about the style yet, but the goalkicking is something we have to work on. There was a lot of pressur ein that game becuase it was so low-scoring, we need to work on our pressure. But at the moment, if I were a Geelong supporter, I would be looking with great interest at Hawthorn and Collingwood. THAT is where your challenge is going to come from.

I thought St Kilda were but i saw them the other night and thought they were poor. No improvement from in the past 5 years. Exact same, gone backwards if anything. Hawthorn looks a more logical contender, the Eagles the other one.

Where was our shootout last year? Saints tried that flooding crap against the Cats and in the end got run over. Playing free-flowing football for one quarter doesn't make you a free-flowing team. If I have a drink once every three months that doesn't make me an alcoholic. But you are right on Collingwood and Hawthorn; the magpies especially.

Every team is a threat, and will probably beat us because we have Byrnes and they dont. We shouldnt just not play him we should probably have him killed and also any player who came in contact with him

Lol. You choose to base your view of the Saints on 10 minutes of footy

What about the other 110 minutes of crap?

Lol again. Mate, have you looked at the Geelong scores from last year? 15 goals is a bad day for us, not a shootout. But I guess we must make allowances for you as a Saints supporter and 15 goals is a huge day for you.

They beat us in NAB cup by a kick

I think we had 10 premiership players not playing (might be wrong)

I think there is nothing to worry about

cant deny the first qtr... what about the last failed to lick a goal....

and esondon top four

I think stkilda are our number 1 threat along with collingwood.but to put it simply we have a better list than both these 2 sides so our destiny is in our own hands.
collingwood??? ur kiddng aren't u? don't see how they have done wat they have in the past year and a bit with a so-so list and a crappy game plan. If rocca or cloke get injured there stuffed so they have no real depth and there kids aren't as good as people say they are. West Coast, the saints or the hawks are more legitimate contenders.

That's an absurd argument. Take two key players out of any side, and their chances dwindle. How do you think Hawthorn would go without Franklin or Mitchell? Or Geelong without Ottens or Mooney?

Fact is, last year we played two of our three finals without our only half-decent ruckman and still performed creditably. So things can't be too shit.

As for our kids, well, I think the results speak for themselves.

I didn't see the first ten minutes but I saw the last ten minutes when you almost lost a game to a team which has an appalling record at that venue. I'd say you were lucky to hang on, Sydney had no right to be even close but had a couple of shots in the last few minutes where they could have taken the game from you.

This continues St Kilda's recent tradition of fade outs. Examples that spring to mind are the Collingwood game last year, the game against us last year - when you almost could've been in front at half time - and a couple of recent finals (vs Melbourne and Sydney).

Don't get me wrong you've got a good list (although not as good as popularly believed) and I expect you to make the finals but half the competition make the finals every year - with the number of top draft picks you've had, and their time in the competition, you should have a team at least comparable to if not better than the Hawks.

Yeah yeah....let's see how far into the year you can hang with us!!!

As for the saints well...I think they have too much of a loosing culture to be a threat.

no no no, not saints, not bombers, the pies are the worry

they are a very young side with alot of promise, if the dont take the competition by storm this year it will be in the not too distant future.

We got over them in the home and away season by just a couple of goals, but they did play very poorly i believe.

Beat them in the preliminary final by 5 points, luckily they had Buckley playing to let them down, could have got over us if he didnt play :P
But honestly they are are big threat i believe.

We kicked 3.8 in the third, including missing a couple from 30-40 out right in front. If we'd kicked 8.3, or the Eagles had got one of the free kicks in attack they were robbed of in their final, we wouldn't be talking about the Pies at all. People forget that yeah they had a good run last year (aided and abetted by once more having the easiest draw in the comp), but they were also beaten by Spoonmond, the Bulldogs, and Melbourne - hardly the stuff to strike fear into your hearts.
