Are we as good as the Eagles, Swans, Adelaide or Freo?

No, I don't think so. That's who we have to beat and I doubt we will.

We seem to come to play against the higher teams though which is why I expect us to do well in the finals (presuming we make them). We beat Sydney at their own game (the match looked like what the SF 2005 would have been if we hadn't lost all our rucks ), thrashed Freo at their home ground and were up by 50 against West Coast before capitulating (lets not forget the beating we gave them at the end of 2005).

Also the reference to Port in that article was a bit confusing... We finished above them last year and beat them. We finished above them the year before and beat them twice including a 70+ point win. Shawn Burgoyne is the only player out of the Port ones listed that would be better than all of our players, then I would put our 4 in front of the other Port players listed.

That article is a load of shit. What I am about to say is fanboyism, but merely poking holes in the article itself.

I'm not saying we're an awesome team, but he compares us to West Coast, but never even touches on Sydney, who have played in the last 2 grand finals, winning one of them. I would be confident in comparing our list to that of Sydney's.

Spot on and what I've been saying for ages, man for man our list compares very favourably with that of Sydney, yet they've achieved far more then us.

This is why I think the article is way off the mark, it's not a lack of player talent that keeps Geelong struggling but all the other things that go toward making a successful football club, the type of things that are perfectly touched upon in another thread on here "Cats' double standards and inflated egos."

We've proven time and again that we can match it with, and beat, the best in the comp, it's the other intangibles that prevent us from doing it on a consistent basis.
